
Mizzou Cross Country Primed for John McNichols Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – University of Missouri Cross Country will travel to Indiana State for the John McNichols Invitational at The LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Tiger men will set off in the 8k at 9 a.m., while the women will follow with the 5k at 9:45 a.m.
Missouri will compete against 21 teams on Saturday. First-year head coach Lindsey Anderson will send 34 athletes to the invitational, 18 women and 16 men will make the trip.
Blake Morris will look to pace the Tiger men in the early season race, Morris finished 19th in the Mizzou XC Opener at the beginning of the month. The sophomore worked alongside teammates Trevor Peimann (Wentzville, Mo.), Jack Warner (Kansas City, Mo.), and Dan Brookling (Arborfield Cross, England) to land the men's team a third-place finish.
Marquette Hanson (Warrensburg, Mo.), the Tigers top performer from the opener, will not be competing in the weekend race. Hanson will focus on the Gans Creek Classic at the end of the month.
The Missouri women are looking for another impressive showing behind the performances of juniors Isabelle Christiansen (Oswego, Ill.) and Jenna Schwartz (Waterloo, Ill.). Christiansen, who finished 16th individually in the season opener, guided the women to the third spot at the Tigers' home course.
