
Tigers Suffer First Loss of Season, 72-60

DURHAM, N.C. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 72-60 to South Carolina Saturday in the semifinals of the Duke Classic.
Despite scoring first, Missouri did not have a good first half. The Tigers trailed by one point, 6-5, before South Carolina went on a 12-4 run to take an 18-9 lead. MU committed seven turnovers in the first 10 minutes and finished the half with 16.
In addition to dealing with the turnovers, Missouri shot 30.8 percent (8-of-26) and trailed 31-18 at the break.
Missouri was unable to cut South Carolina's lead into single digits in the second half.
South Carolina's Shaunzinski Gortman had 18 points, seven rebounds and six teams to lead the Lady Gamecocks.
Junior guard Kerensa Barr scored 19 points to lead the Tigers. She scored nine of the Tigers' 18 first-half points. Evan Unrau knocked down her first collegiate 3-point field goals and finished with 14 points. Natalie Bright added 10 points for MU.
Missouri, now 2-1, will play either Davidson Sunday at 11 a.m. (Central). Duke downed Davidson 107-58 in Saturday's other semifinal.
