
Women's Basketball Closes Nonconference Slate Against Kansas City

Mizzou women's basketball closes out the 2025-26 nonconference slate against Kansas City at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Mizzou Arena.
Missouri (11-3, 0-0 SEC) enters the contest following a victory over North Alabama last Sunday.
Junior guard Grace Slaughter led the Tigers past the Lions with 25 points. Slaughter scored the first 13 points of the game for Missouri.
Slaughter currently ranks fourth in the Southeastern Conference and 28th in the nation with 19.4 points per game.
In her first season at the helm, head coach Kellie Harper is off to the best start by a coach in their debut season in program history.
Utilizing a balanced offensive attack this season, four or more Tigers have scored in double figures nine times this season.
Mizzou made a season-best 15 triples against North Alabama. This season, Missouri is second in the conference and eighth in the country in 3-point percentage at 39.0.
To supplement the outside shooting, the Tigers rank eighth in the country and lead the SEC in efficiency at the free-throw line at 80.7 percent.
Mizzou made its first eight free throws against Illinois, which marked 31 consecutive attempts at the line dating back to the win over Cal on Dec. 4. This is the most consecutive made free throws for Mizzou dating back to the 2000-01 season.
Spearheading the offense in the early campaign, Slaughter and junior guard Shannon Dowell became the first Mizzou duo to score in double figures in the first 11 games of a season in program history.
Slaughter and Dowell rank fourth and 13th in the SEC with 19.4 and 16.4 points per game this season.
Dowell also ranks ninth in the country and first in the SEC with 67 made free throws this year.
Closing games late, Mizzou has outscored its opponents by 50 points in the fourth quarter this season.
Kansas City enters Sunday at 3-9 following a win over Haskell Indian Nations on December 20th.
The Roos are coached by Dionnah Jackson-Durrett who is in her fourth season on the sidelines with a 36-73 overall record.
Junior guards Alayna Contreras and Emani Bennett headline the Kansas City offense with 17.3 and 15.1 points per game, respectively this season.
