COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field will host the first of two outdoor meets on Saturday, as the Mizzou Spring Open is set to take place at Audrey J. Walton Stadium. Mizzou will have more than 50 student-athletes in action, as field events are slated to begin at 11 a.m. CT and track events at 3 p.m. CT.
In total, 10 teams will be in competition on Saturday, as the Tigers will be joined by Baker, Columbia College, Lincoln, Lindenwood, Missouri Baptist, Missouri State, Nebraska-Omaha, Western Illinois and William Jewell. Live results will be available through PTTiming.com.
In field events, Mizzou will be highlights by redshirt senior Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) in the discus. Jacobs is a two-time SEC Champion and NCAA All-American in the discus, and holds the school record (60.25m/197-8) and facility record (58.11m/190-8) in the event.
A number of Tiger entries will look to join Jacobs as school record holders in their respective field events, including redshirt junior Jordan McClendon (Black Jack, Mo.) in the hammer throw, freshman Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) in the triple jump and freshman Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) in the high jump. McClendon holds the No. 2 hammer throw mark in program history at 65.68m (215-6), and is less than a meter from surpassing Kearsten Peoples' 2015 mark of 66.17m (217-1). Fisher, who will be making her outdoor debut in the triple jump, posted the second-best triple jump mark in program history in the indoor season at 12.68m (41-7.25). That mark would also rank second on the outdoor top-10 list. Vilches, the school record holder in the indoor high jump, recently joined Mizzou's top-10 list in the outdoor high jump at No. 8 with a jump of 2.14m (7-0.25).
In track events, Mizzou will be represented by three program top-10 mark holders – senior Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.), freshman Morgan O'Neal (Sylacauga, Ala.) and sophomore Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.). Cody will be running in the 100m dash and 200m dash, where she currently holds the No. 5 (11.69) and No. 6 (23.99) marks in program history, respectively. O'Neal will be running in the 400m hurdles, where she continues to move up the top-10 list, as she is currently at No. 7 with a time of 1:01.18. Clarke will be entered in the 100m dash and 200m dash, where his time of 20.81 ranks seventh all-time.
