COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field continues its indoor season this Friday and Saturday, as the Tigers head on the road to the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska. Live results for the meet will be available through deltatiming.com.
On Friday, multi-events will kick off the meet at noon CT beginning with the heptathlon 60m dash and the pentathlon 60m hurdles. Then, field events will begin at 4:30 p.m. CT, starting with the men's weight throw, with track events to follow starting at 6 p.m. CT with women's 60m hurdles. On Saturday, the multi-events begin the day again starting at 9:30 a.m. CT with the heptathlon 60m hurdles, followed by field events beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT with the women's high jump. The track events on Saturday are split into sections, with the first being the early afternoon session beginning at 11:30 a.m. starting with the women's 200m dash, followed by the special invite session which starts at 2:10 p.m. with the women's 60m hurdles final.
In track events, Mizzou will have 23 athletes competing in 12 events, including 14 in special invite sections on Saturday afternoon. In the mile run, junior Kieran Wood (Cambridge, U.K.) will toe the line after setting the school record in the 3000m run at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational on Jan. 20, while redshirt sophomore Melissa Menghini (Fenton, Mo.) will run for the women. Menghini posted a personal record time of 4:49.39 in the mile run at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational (Jan. 20), and is just under two seconds away from cracking the program top-10 in that event.
In field events, redshirt senior Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) and redshirt sophomore Sophia Rivera (Brentwood, Mo.) will each be making their season debuts in the shot put on Saturday afternoon. Jacobs, a two-time NCAA Outdoor All-American in the discus, holds the No. 7 shot put mark in program history at 15.54m (51-0), while Rivera, a transfer from Wisconsin, holds a personal record mark of 16.47m (54-0.5) in the event. Her mark, which she set at the Shell Shocker Meet on Feb. 16, 2018, would rank fifth on Mizzou's top-10 list. Redshirt sophomore Emily Stauffer (Reinholds, Pa.), who holds the No. 8 shot put mark with a throw of 15.53m (50-11.5), will also be in competition for Mizzou.
Mizzou school record holders freshman Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico), redshirt sophomore Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) and senior Valeria Kostiuk (Kiev, Ukraine) will also all be in competition in field events. Ward will compete in the long jump on Friday, while Vilches and Kostiuk will compete in the high jump on Saturday. Freshman Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.), who holds the triple jump school record, will make her season debut in the long jump on Friday.
