Tigers swept this weekend in SEC-opening series
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Mizzou Softball (16-10, 0-3 SEC) saw its offense bounce back nicely Sunday, but Tennessee's was even better in an 11-3 run-rule defeat. The Tigers suffered losses in all three games this weekend in their 2018 Southeastern Conference series opener.

On Sunday's series finale...
"We came out well and reached the scoreboard first in the third inning. In the bottom half, we gave Tennessee an additional out on a fielding mistake and that really opened the floodgates for them. You just can't give really good teams like Tennessee additional chances on offense. While we took the loss today, it was great to see our offense come back like they did. We're right back in action Wednesday with two against Illinois then looking forward to our SEC home opener next weekend against Mississippi State."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Seven different Tigers recorded a hit Sunday, highlighted by Rylee Pierce's ninth multi-hit game of the season. That multi-hit game total ranks second on the team.
- Moore, Kolby Romaine and Callie Martin all picked up an extra-base hit with one double apiece. Martin's six doubles this year ranks second on the team, trailing only Sanchez's eight total doubles.
- Romaine's third inning double extended her hitting streak to five-straight games. That total matches her personal 2018 season-high hitting streak.
- Sanchez's RBI single in the fourth inning extended her safely reached base streak to 23 games. It ranks as the T-9th longest streak in Mizzou Softball history.
- Tennessee's offense possessed the clutch gene all day, as nine of its 11 runs scored were courtesy of two-out hits.
