On Wednesday's contests against Illinois…
"Obviously, today was disappointing. I felt like we came in with a great chance to re-group after a disappointing SEC opener at Tennessee last weekend, but we couldn't click on all cylinders against Illinois. They really took advantage of big innings against our pitching in both games. Those multi-run frames can be back-breakers and the deciding factor a lot of times. I was proud of our team's fight in the seventh inning in game two. We really started producing at the plate and even brought up the potential game-tying run. We'll have to make the appropriate adjustments quickly as we have another SEC series starting in two days."
#MIZ Takeaways
- With a hit and three walks across today's twin-billing, Amanda Sanchez extended her safely reached base streak to 25 games. That total now ranks T-6h longest such streak in Mizzou Softball history.
- Sanchez and Cayla Kessinger's streak of 24 consecutive games earlier this season (and dating back to conclusion of 2017 campaign) both check-in top-10 all-time in program history.
- Decker was an on-base machine for the Tigers Wednesday, safely reaching base in five of her six total plate appearances. In game one, she tallied her second multi-hit game this year.
- In game two, Nash and Burnside each picked up multi-hit efforts at the plate. Nash's nine total multi-hit games this season ranks second on Mizzou while Burnside's five checks-in at T-5th.
- Burnside's three hits against the Fighting Illini in game two established a new 2018 season high. Additionally, her three RBI matched her season-best total.
