COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou softball has signed infield transfer Jana Want (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Saltfleet District) from Middle Tennessee, announced head coach Larissa Anderson on Monday, June 22.
Want comes to Missouri following her sophomore season, where she started all 51 games at shortstop for the Blue Raiders and was a CUSA Second Team All-Conference selection.
"Jana brings a combination of experience, toughness, and consistency that will make an immediate impact on our program. What stood out throughout the recruiting process was her competitive nature, her desire to continue developing, and her excitement about being part of something bigger than herself," Anderson said. "We believe Mizzou is the perfect place for Jana to elevate her game, and we're excited to welcome her to the Tiger family."
The Ontario native will bolster the Mizzou lineup with a .309 batting average and .497 slugging percentage this past season. She also tallied 18 extra base hits: 13 doubles and five home runs. Additionally, Want drew 28 walks and was second on Middle Tennessee with a .432 on-base percentage. The shortstop recorded 71 putouts and 82 assists while driving in 27 runs.
The incoming junior was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2025 with a 14-game hit streak and recorded 14 multi-hit games. Moreover, Want tied the program record with six RBIs in an upset win over No. 24 Liberty.
Prior to college, Want attended Orchard Park Secondary School and was named 2024 Athlete of the Year. She also played volleyball and graduated with honors.
