CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – With seven ranked teams and hundreds of wrestlers on display at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa, No. 5 Mizzou Wrestling registered nine top-three finishes on Saturday afternoon at the UNI Open. Mizzou had 28 wrestlers compete in the open tournament and three claim first-place finishes. Senior 197-pounder J'den Cox (Columbia, Mo.), redshirt junior 157-pounder Joey Lavallee (Reno, Nev.) and redshirt freshman 133-pounder Jaydin Eierman (Columbia, Mo.) all finished atop their respective weight classes.

Cox won each of his three bouts by fall, registering his first three falls of the season. Cox began the day by pinning Wes Kibler (Illinois) at the 3:59 mark, followed by a pin over Vince Dietz (St. Cloud State) at 3:17, and finally at 5:19 over Tyler Hoffman (Northern Iowa), to claim the title.

Lavallee opened his day with a fall as well, pinning Austin Hiles (Michigan State) at the 3:35 mark. He then beat Mario Leveille (Purdue) by way of a technical fall (20-3), Travis Holt (St. Cloud State) by major decision (14-5) and Carson Brolsma (Minnesota) by decision (6-4) to advance to the finals where he met teammate, sophomore 157-pounder Luke Fortuna (Glen Ellyn, Ill.). Lavallee was victorious in the bout between two Tigers, winning by decision, 6-1.

Eierman scored a 17-2 technical fall over Cam Sykora (North Dakota State), a 14-6 major decision over Francis Edelen (Illinois) and a 15-10 decision over Sam Brancale (Minnesota) to advance to the finals of the 133 pound bracket. In the finals, Eierman defeated Dylan Duncan (Illinois), 6-3.

Redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Daniel Lewis (Blue Springs, Mo.) and Fortuna each recorded second-place finishes for the Tigers. Lewis recorded three falls and a major decision on the day before falling to two-time NCAA Champion Isaiah Martinez (Illinois), 7-4, in the finals. Each of Lewis' pins were in under two minutes.

Recording third-place finishes on the day for Mizzou was redshirt junior 125-pounder Aaron Assad (Brecksville, Ohio), redshirt sophomore 133-pounder John Erneste (Kansas City, Mo.)., sophomore 165-pounder Connor Flynn (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) and redshirt freshman heavyweight Austin Myers (Alexandria, Ky.).

Mizzou next hits the road for two duals this coming week, beginning at No. 4 Ohio State on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. (CT), followed by a MAC dual at Ohio on Sunday, Dec. 11.
