Tiger Style Wrestling Takes on U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri wrestling will have six wrestlers compete at the U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals tournament this weekend in Geneva, Ohio.

The freestyle U23 preliminaries are set to take place on Saturday, May 31, along with the entirety of the U20 Freestyle Trials. Concluding on June 1, the quarterfinal round through the finals of U23 Nationals will close out the weekend.

Five of the six competitors will be representing the Tiger Style Wrestling Club, two of which will be wrestling under the club's name for the first time.

Winners of the U20 tournament will become members of the U20 level World Team, which will compete at the U20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria on August 18-24, 2025.

U20 WORLD TEAM TRIALS
Four wrestlers will challenge for a spot on the U20 World Team: Mack Mauger (57kg), Seth Mendoza (61kg), Danny Heiser (74kg) and Aeoden Sinclair (86kg). Mauger, Mendoza and Sinclair will represent Tiger Style, while Heiser will compete for his local club Askren Wrestling Academy (AWA), and be coached by Mizzou alum Ben Askren.

All but Mendoza competed in the 2025 US Open in Las Vegas last month with all three placing in their brackets. Mauger placed third at 57kg and Heiser took fifth at 74kg, while Sinclair made it to the finals but fell just short of the top spot at 86kg.

U23 NATIONALS
Representing Tiger Style, Josh Edmond (70kg) and Jarrett Stoner (125kg) will take on the U23 Nationals competition.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Edmond secured a Freestyle National Championship and United World Wrestling Cadet Freestyle All-America honors to go along with a 117-3 record at Detroit Catholic Central High School.

Edmond previously won Junior Nationals in 2020 at 65kg, however the World Championship was canceled that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A native of Rockwall, Texas, Stoner was a four-year letterwinner at Rockwall High School in a career highlighted by a Class 6A State Title in 2023. He has also claimed the top spot on the podium in four tournaments so far in his college career.

Having recently finished his redshirt freshman season at 285 pounds for the Tigers; he is still early in his freestyle career. Stoner recently went 5-2 in the U20 U.S. Open in Las Vegas, ultimately falling just short of placing in the top eight.

HOW TO WATCH
