ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Mizzou wrestling opened up 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships Thursday morning at Scottrade Center with eight total victories. Redshirt senior Mikey England and redshirt freshman Willie Miklus led the way for Mizzou, as their individual wins helped the Tigers place tied for third with 11.0 total points.

England competed in the 165 pound pigtail round to open up competition in St. Louis, Mo., and earned a 3-2 decision over Tyrel White (Columbia). Later in the afternoon, England was back at it again with a big 6-2 decision over No. 11 seed Tristan Warner (Old Dominion).

The Tigers' other standout victory came at 184 pounds, after Miklus delivered a thrilling pin over No. 10 Lorenzo Thomas (Penn) in just 2:15.

Also of note, redshirt sophomore Lavion Mayes produced a 14-4 major decision over Joseph Spisak (Virginia). Mayes and Miklus were the only two Tigers in the first session to record bonus points wins.

Rounding out the first session Mizzou wins were decisions by redshirt senior Alan Waters, redshirt senior Drake Houdashelt, sophomore J'den Cox, and redshirt senior Devin Mellon.

2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships second session matchups begin at 6 p.m. (CT). Seven Tigers remain on top in the winners' bracket, while three grapplers now battle it out in wrestlebacks action.
