Creighton Doubleheader Notes
Game One
Casey Stangel started at first base for the first time all season.
Stangel moved to the circle in the third inning and threw five perfect innings, striking out six. The spotless outing improved Stangel to 14-7 in 2014.
Mizzou's 11 runs marked the fifth time this season the Tigers have put up 10 runs or more in a single game. The last time came in a 14-0 rout of UMKC on March 23.
Five Tigers recorded multi-hit games, with four of the five posting two or more RBIs.
Taylor Gadbois slapped two singles and stole two bases in the doubleheader opener.
Mizzou stole six bases as a team for the ninth time in school history. The last time the Tigers swiped six bases in a single game was Feb. 27, 2011, against Western Michigan.
Redshirt sophomore Sami Fagan went 2-for-4 at the plate, tallying three RBI for a team-leading fifth time in 2014.
Corrin Genovese continues to have a hot bat. She was 3-for-4 at the dish with a double and two runs scored.
Kelli Schkade launched a two-run home run in the bottom of third. The long ball was the third of the freshman's career.
Junior Angela Randazzo added two hits and two RBI of her own. Randazzo now has a Tiger-best 30 career multi-hit games, including 14 in 2014.
Game Two
Gadbois stole another base in the second game. With 44 total steals, Gadbois moves into a fourth-place tie with Julie Link on Mizzou's all time single-season stolen base list.
Kelsea Roth came around to score her 20th run of the season, avoiding a tag at home plate with a head-first slide.
Freshman Tori Finucane continued her dominance in the circle, throwing her 18th complete game of the season to earn her 20th win. Finucane struck out 10 batters for the second consecutive outing and improved her ERA to 1.66.
Finucane has now won 10 consecutive decisions from April 7-April 29. That is the longest streak by a Tiger since Chelsea Thomas won 10-straight from Feb. 25-March 21, 2012.
Mizzou is now 11-3 in doubleheaders this season and 25-5 on days with multiple games.
