Junior guards Grace Slaughter and Shannon Dowell each eclipsed 20 points to lead Mizzou women's basketball past Arkansas 87-82 for the Tigers' third-straight win on Thursday night at Bud Walton Arena.
The three-game conference win streak is the first for Mizzou since the 2022-23 season.
Dowell turned in 25 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Slaughter contributed 24 points, five rebounds and two assists.
Junior guard Abbey Schreacke added 17 points and six boards.
Slaughter jumpstarted Mizzou's (16-9, 4-6 SEC) offense, scoring six of the Tigers' first nine points. Schreacke and Dowell added triples as the contest was knotted at 12 through the opening five minutes.
Trailing by five, senior guard Saniah Tyler pushed the ball in transition and dished it across the lane to Slaughter, who finished with a layup. Moments later, redshirt senior Jayla Smith connected on a 3-pointer from the left wing as part of a 7-0 run to put Mizzou up two. Arkansas (11-13, 0-9 SEC) scored on the final two possessions of the frame and held a 22-19 lead after one.
Nearly three minutes into the second, Dowell rose up from the top of the arc and buried a triple to put Mizzou up two. On the next possession, sophomore guard Chloe Sotell forced a steal and took it the length of the floor to tie the contest again at 30.
Tyler tallied a triple two minutes before the break. The long-range make saw the Tigers close on an 8-2 run that was bookended by an acrobatic finish in the lane by Dowell. The late surge gave Mizzou a 41-38 lead at the half.
Trailing by two in the opening minute of the third, Smith, Sotell and Dowell buried 3-pointers on consecutive possessions as a part of a quick 11-0 run that put the Tigers up nine.
Leading by four in the heart of the period, Dowell recorded another triple from the right wing to extend Mizzou's advantage.
Tyler converted from behind the arc down the stretch, but Arkansas cut into the Tigers' lead as the visitors led 66-64 at the conclusion of the third.
Schreacke added to the lead with a 3-pointer on the Tigers' first possession of the fourth. The scoring slowed in the early portion of the quarter before Dowell and Slaughter recorded baskets to put Mizzou up four with five minutes remaining.
A step-through layup by Slaughter with just over a minute left delivered the Tigers' five points of separation. The lead would prove to be enough as Mizzou clamped down defensively and closed the contest at the free-throw line.
