
Gymnastics Takes First at Ameritas Master’s Classic, Scoring 197.275

Junior Hannah Horton claimed event titles on vault and floor, including a 9.975 on vault.
No. 7 Mizzou gymnastics came in first at the Ameritas Master's Classic with a score of 197.275, beating out No. 27 Nebraska (194.600), Wisconsin-La Crosse (192.075) and Wisconsin-Stout (184.675) at Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Saturday afternoon.
SHOWSTOPPERS
Hannah Horton (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) earned event titles on vault and floor, posting a 9.975 on vault and a 9.925 on floor.
Addison Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) earned the top score on balance beam with her second-straight 9.950 on the apparatus.
Kimarra Echols (Henderson, Nev.) posted a 9.925 to earn the uneven bars title, topping her best score from week one.
The Tigers saw 11 of their 24 routines score 9.900 or higher from at least one judge.
"We had a really solid showing today in our first road meet of the year," head coach Shannon Welker said. "I thought we took a really solid step forward. There's still plenty we can clean up, but the fight and belief this team showed is what excites me most."

-Going third and fourth respectively, Olivia Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) and Horton each posted 9.850.
-Echols has opened her collegiate career with consecutive meets scoring at least 9.900 on bars.
-Makayla Green (Mays Landing, N.J.) anchored the rotation, earning 9.825.
-Mizzou finished the first rotation with a score of 49.225 to lead second-place Nebraska by two-tenths.
BEAM
-Redshirt senior Amy Wier (St. Louis, Mo.) opened the rotation by scoring a 9.850, with Kelly matching her score after going fourth for Mizzou.
-Lauren Macpherson (Gilbert, Ariz.) went second and scored 9.875 in her second beam routine as a Tiger.
-Railey Jackson (Park Forest, Ill.) earned a 9.875 for the fourth time in her career.
-Lawrence closed it out for the Tigers with her event-title winning score of 9.950, posting the result for the second meet in a row to open her senior season.
-The team finished the rotation with a score of 49.400 on beam.
FLOOR
-Elise Tisler (Fairfax Station, Va.) held the leadoff spot and posted a 9.850.
-Ayla Acevedo (Virginia Beach, Va.) went second and earned a 9.875 for her routine.
-Kennedy Griffin (Strongsville, Ohio) anchored floor for Mizzou, also scoring 9.875.
-Horton scored 9.925 on floor for the second-straight meet.
-Mizzou totaled 49.350 in its third rotation.
VAULT
-Both Griffin and Echols added 9.825 to the team's total on vault.
-Horton's 9.975 marked the third time a Mizzou gymnast has reached or exceeded the score on vault this season.
-Tisler's 9.875 is the third time she's achieved the mark at Mizzou and her best vault score in the Black & Gold.
UP NEXT
The Tigers return to Mizzou Arena for their upcoming home meet against preseason No. 1 Oklahoma on Friday, Jan. 16 at 7:45 p.m. The meet will be nationally televised on SEC Network for Friday Night Heights.
