NORMAN, Okla. – No. 20 University of Missouri wrestling dropped a road contest to conference foe Oklahoma 23-13 on Saturday. Mizzou picked up wins in three out of 10 bouts, with bonus points coming in one of the victories. The Tigers fell to 5-8 on the season (4-2 Big 12), and the Sooners moved to 7-4 (3-4 Big 12).
The Sooners hit their stride right off the whistle, claiming the first four matches of the dual. Oklahoma picked up ranked wins at 125 and 141 pounds. The Black and Gold battled hard but were not able to secure a victory until the 157-pound bout. Redshirt sophomore James Conway put the Tigers on the board with a decision over Landyn Sommer. Oklahoma held a commanding 12-3 lead at the halfway point.
At 165 pounds, Cam Steed lit up the scoreboard late in the match to pick up a 13-3 major decision for the first bonus points of the night. The Sooners got back to their winning ways, picking up wins in two matches to clinch the dual victory. Redshirt junior Jesse Cassatt secured a takedown in overtime to earn a victory at 197 pounds. The Tigers ended the night on a high note, with redshirt junior Seth Nitzel dominating his way to a solid win at 285 pounds.
MATCH NOTES
- The loss moves the all-time record for Mizzou to 16-43-0 against Oklahoma.
- Entering tonight, the Tigers held a three-match win streak against the Sooners, with the last loss coming in the 2016-17 season.
- At 133 pounds, Kade Moore's loss snapped a season-long six-match win streak dating back to the Cyclone Open on January 19.
- Logan Gioffre falls to 1-1 versus Willie McDougald, with his win coming in sudden victory in the Oklahoma dual last season.
- Cassatt's victory at 197 pounds marked his first dual victory since November 6, 2022, against Lindenwood, when he picked up a fall in 2:38.
- Nitzel brought home his second win of the season over Juan Mora, following an 8-0 major decision at the Cyclone Open with an 8-1 decision.
- Steed and Walker returned to their home state for the weekend trip being from Collinsville and Jay, Oklahoma, respectively.

The Tigers have a quick turnaround, heading to Stillwater to take on No. 3 Oklahoma State on Sunday, February 2. Wrestling will start at 2 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+. Mizzou looks to pick up its first win in Gallagher-Iba Arena since the 2017-18 season.
