Mizzou women's basketball eased past Saint Louis 82-66 on Sunday afternoon at Chaifetz Arena.
Sophomore guard Chloe Sotell and juniors Grace Slaughter and Shannon Dowell led the way for Mizzou with 16 points apiece. Sotell recorded a team-high eight rebounds in the contest while Slaughter tallied a pair of blocks.
Defensively, the Tigers compiled 11 steals, the most since they tallied 13 against Jackson State on Dec. 29, 2024.
Mizzou faced an eight-point deficit early in the contest. However, a 17-2 run late in the first quarter, sparked by triples from junior guards Jayla Smith and Abbey Schreacke, quickly extinguished the Billikens' initial lead and gave the Tigers a 17-14 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Missouri continued its offensive momentum in the second half after a layup by Smith that led to a 10-0 run late in the quarter. Sotell led the way for the Tigers in the second quarter, scoring eight points on two 3-pointers and a layup. Her efforts helped boost the Mizzou lead to 42-27 going into the half.
The Tigers kept their strong offensive attack in the third quarter with threes in back-to-back possessions early in the frame by Schreacke and Slaughter. Nearing the six-minute mark, senior guard Saniah Tyler connected on a triple to push the Mizzou advantage to 22, the largest of the game.
As a team, Missouri shot 50.0% in the third frame to help maintain a 60-46 lead heading into the fourth.
Saint Louis cut into the Tigers' lead early in the frame. However, with six minutes left in the contest, Missouri connected with a 9-0 run following layups by Slaughter and Smith and capped off by a Sotell triple, sealing the victory for the Tigers.
