Women's Basketball Cruises Past North Alabama

Led by a 25-point performance from junior guard Grace Slaughter, Mizzou women's basketball downed North Alabama 84-57 on Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.
Slaughter added six rebounds and two assists to round out her stat line.
Redshirt senior guard Jayla Smith recorded 17 points behind a six-of-six performance from the charity stripe. Defensively, Smith added three blocks and a steal.
Junior guard Abbey Schrecke notched 12 points with four makes from beyond the arc. The junior completed her stat line with two assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Slaughter jumpstarted Mizzou's offense and scored the opening 13 points of the contest for the Tigers as Missouri claimed an early six-point advantage.
Minutes later, Slaughter buried a triple to total 16 points in the frame. The early offense gave Mizzou a 23-13 lead after one.
Leading by eight with nearly three minutes elapsed in the second, the Tigers embarked on a 13-3 scoring charge that spanned the rest of the period. Smith guided the offense with nine points in the run and capped the push with a 3-pointer from the right corner.
Defensively, Mizzou clamped down and held the Lions scoreless for just under the final five minutes of the quarter to lead 38-20 at the half.
Missouri held a 15-point advantage early in the third before Smith and Schreacke converted triples on three straight possessions, which included consecutive makes by Schreacke. The outside spark quickly pushed the lead to 20 at the halfway mark of the frame.
The Tigers stayed hot from deep as Slaughter, junior guard Lisa Thompson and freshman forward Reka Toman added makes from beyond the arc in the third.
Led by three long-range baskets from Shreacke, Mizzou totaled seven 3-pointers in the period and led 61-39 headed into the fourth.
In the opening minutes of the final quarter, the Tigers continued their efficient outside shooting as senior guard Saniah Tyler ignited a 10-3 Tigers' run with a triple.
Riding the momentum, Schreacke and sophomore guard Chloe Sotell notched 3-pointers in the heart of the frame to give Mizzou a 32-point lead as the Tigers cruised to victory.
