EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - University of Missouri wrestling brought home a second-place finish at the Cougar Clash, held in Edwardsville, Illinois on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Tigers tallied up 183 points and claimed one individual weight class title. 

Redshirt Senior Noah Surtin made his season debut with an impressive first-period fall, followed by a technical fall. The Edwardsville native finished off his season opener in fourth place. Redshirt sophomore James Conway picked up an upset win over Northern Colorado's 13th-ranked Vinny Zerban en route to a second place finish. Heavyweight Jarrett Stoner avenged a loss from last season's Cougar Clash to Northern Illinois's Jacob Christensen to punch his ticket to the first-place match, which he won by decision. 

The Tigers secured a second-place finish for the second year in a row. This season marked an improvement from last season's effort when Mizzou scored 143.5 points.

Throughout the day, a total of 14 tigers saw action on the mat, with all 14 securing a spot on the podium by finishing in the top eight in their respective weight classes.

The Tigers head to Nashville, Tennessee for the Collegiate Wrestling Duals on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024. Mizzou will wrestle three duals, starting off against Binghamton and No. 20 Little Rock, before finishing off with a headlining dual against No. 1 Penn State.
