Mizzou Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 21 Arkansas, 90-73

Frank and Blackwell combine for 37 points to lead the Tigers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – After getting out to a fast start, Mizzou Women's Basketball (4-13, 1-3 SEC) fell to No. No. 21 Arkansas, 90-73, on Sunday afternoon at Bud Walton Arena. Three players scored in double figures for Mizzou, led by the freshmen duo of forward Hayley Frank (Strafford, Mo.) and guard Aijha Blackwell (Berkeley, Mo.), who combined for 37 of Mizzou's 73 points.

Frank paced the Tigers with 19 points, while Blackwell chipped in 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists. Joining the pair in double figures was redshirt sophomore guard Haley Troup (Gadsden, Ala.), who had 13 points and posted career-bests in free throws (9-for-10), rebounds (eight) and assists (six).

TURNING POINT

Mizzou started the game strong, jumping out to a 22-14 lead after the first quarter, before Arkansas responded in fashion, scoring 66 points in the final three quarters. In the second quarter alone, the Razorbacks outscored the Tigers, 20-8 to gain control of the game and lead by four points at halftime. Arkansas opened the second half on an 8-0 run to grow its lead to 12, and Mizzou never got closer than nine after that point.

TOP TIGERS

  • Frank posted her 12th game in double figures as she paced the Tigers with 19 points, raising her season scoring average to 12.5 points per game. Frank added five rebounds and a block in the game.
  • With 18 points, Blackwell continued her impressive scoring streak, as she has scored in double figures in eight of the last 10 games.
  • Making her first career start, Troup scored 13 points and was a career-best 9-of-10 from the free throw line. The Tiger sophomore also recorded career-highs in rebounds (eight) and assists (six).

NOTES

  • As a team, Mizzou shot 74.1 percent from the free throw line (20-for-27), the 10th time this season the Tigers have shot at least 70 percent from the charity stripe.
  • Frank posted the second-best scoring output of her career with 19 points, her 12th game in double figures this season and her fifth time scoring 15+.
  • Blackwell scored in double figures for the 10th time this season and the eighth time in the past 10 games with 18 points. Blackwell also made a career-best seven attempts from the charity stripe in the game (7-for-8).
  • The Tiger freshman also recorded seven rebounds, her 13th time grabbing at least five rebounds, and dished out five assists, the fourth time she has recorded at least four dimes.
  • Making her first career start, Troup played one of the best games of her career, contributing 13 points while posting career-bests in free throws made (9-for-10), rebounds (eight) and assists (six).
  • Redshirt senior forward Hannah Schuchts (Tallahassee, Fla.) had her best game on the glass of her career, as she recorded a team-high 12 rebounds.
  • Schuchts also had two blocks in the game to move to ninth-place on Mizzou's all-time blocks list with 116, matching Strech James' total from 2001-04.
