THE MATCHUP
- Mizzou Women's Basketball will host the No. 1 team in the nation for the first time since 2015 and the fifth time overall when the Tigers face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Thursday, Jan. 16. Tipoff from Mizzou Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network with Eric Frede, Tamika Catching and Andraya Carter on the call. Mizzou will look to halt a two-game skid, while the Gamecocks enter the contest as the top team in the AP poll with a 16-1 record and a 4-0 mark in SEC play. Thursday's matchup will serve at the annual We Back Pat game for Mizzou.
THE SERIES
- Entering the 10th all-time game between the two schools, South Carolina holds a 6-3 advantage in the series and has won the last two matchups. Prior to that, Mizzou won back-to-back games against the Gamecocks at Mizzou Arena, defeating the sixth-ranked Gamecocks, 62-60, on Feb. 19, 2017, and the fourth-ranked Gamecocks, 83-74, on Jan. 7, 2018.
ELITE FRESHMEN DUO
- Mizzou's elite freshmen duo of guard Aijha Blackwell and forward Hayley Frank have lived up to their billing so far this season, as they both currently rank among the top-30 in scoring in the SEC. Frank's mark of 12.5 points per game ranks fifth among SEC freshmen and 25th overall, while Blackwell's 12.3 points per game ranks sixth among SEC freshmen and 27th overall. In program history, only seven freshmen have ever averaged double figures for the Tigers, and never has there been more than one in a single season. Currently, Frank's scoring average ranks fifth all-time among Mizzou freshmen, while Blackwell's average ranks sixth.
THREE-POINT SHOOTING DEPTH
- For years, a staple of the Mizzou offense has been its ability to shoot the deep ball. That skill has not changed this season, as Mizzou's currently ranks in the SEC's top-four and the nation's top-50 in three-pointers made (134 - third in SEC, 23rd nationally), three-pointers made per game (7.9 - third in SEC, 43rd nationally) and three-point percentage (35.7 percent - fourth in SEC, 37th nationally). Individually, six Tigers are shooting better than 35 percent from deep and seven have made 13 or more shots from three. Senior guard Jordan Chavis leads the team in both categories with 30 threes and a 43.5 percent (30-of-69) success rate from deep. Chavis' team-leading 1.8 three-pointers made per game ranks eighth in the SEC.
SENIOR DUO STEPPING UP ON DEFENSE
- Mizzou seniors Hannah Schuchts and Jordan Chavis have stepped up for Mizzou on the defensive end of the floor this season, leading the team in blocks and steals, respectively.
- Schuchts leads the team in blocks by a wide-margin with 36, and ranks in Mizzou's top-10 all-time in program history at ninth with 116 career blocks. Schuchts' senior mark of 36 blocks already ranks 10th all-time among Mizzou seniors. The Tiger senior has recorded multiple blocks in 13 games this season, and three or more blocks in four games. Schuchts produced two or more blocks in six consecutive games from Dec. 5 to Jan. 2, the longest streak of her career. Against South Dakota (Nov. 21), Schuchts matched a career-high with five blocks, the second time in her career she has hit that mark.
- With 20 steals this season, Chavis has already surpassed her mark of 14 steals last season, and has set her career-best mark for a single season. Chavis grabbed a career-high six steals against Kansas City (Dec. 8), the most steals by a Tiger since Sierra Michaelis grabbed nine steals against Wichita State on Dec. 9, 2016.
CHARITY STRIPE SUCCESS
- Mizzou has put an emphasis on getting to the free throw line this season, as the Tigers have connected on 73.2 percent of its freebies (221-for-302) this season, a mark which ranks third in the SEC. Mizzou has posted marks of 75 percent or better from the free throw line in eight of 17 games this season, including seven games of 80 percent or better.
- Freshman forward Hayley Frank currently leads the SEC and ranks 15th nationally in free throw percentage at 88.9 percent (48-of-54).
- In total, six Tigers are shooting 80 percent or better from the charity stripe (min. 10 att.):

Jordan Chavis | 9-10 | .900 |
Hannah Schuchts | 12-14 | .857 |
Jordan Roundtree | 29-34 | .853 |
Amber Smith | 30-36 | .833 |
Haley Troup | 18-22 | .818 |
