COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field continues its outdoor season with the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, as the Tigers will compete April 25-27 at Drake Stadium. Mizzou will begin competition at the Blue Oval on Thursday with the distance carnival, and will continue through Friday and Saturday.
The meet will be broadcast live through USATF.TV with a paid subscription, and live results can be found on PTTiming.com. Last season, Mizzou won coveted white flags in the women's 5000m run, 10,000m run and distance medley relay. It marked the first time in program history Mizzou won multiple white flags in women's events at the Drake Relays, and the 10th time in program history Mizzou has won three or more white flags at the Drake Relays.
For the men, redshirt junior Thomas George (Gloucester, England) will be looking to improve his time he set at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 19), as George ran the eighth-best time in program history in the 5000m run at 14:10.37. George will run the 5000m on Thursday evening. Sophomore Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.) will also take to the track for Mizzou, as he is set to run in the 100m dash and 200m dash, as well as relay events. Clarke has produced four program top-10 marks this outdoor season, including the No. 7 time in both the 100m dash (10.35) and 200m dash (20.81). In field events, redshirt senior Avery Carter (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and redshirt senior Will Fife (Jefferson City, Mo.) will be leading the way. Carter, who will be competing in the hammer throw, owns the No. 3 mark all-time at Mizzou at 66.14m (217-0), while Fife will throw the shot put and discus, and owns the No. 5 mark all-time mark in the shot put at 18.77m (61-7).
For the women, school record holders redshirt senior Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) and redshirt sophomore Sophia Rivera (Brentwood, Mo.). Jacobs will be competing in the discus on Friday afternoon, where she finished runner-up a season ago with a mark of 55.26m (181-3). She is the current school record holder with a mark of 60.25m (197-8) at the Herm Wilson Invitational (March 23). Rivera will compete in the javelin, after she set the school record mark at the John McDonnell Invitational (April 12). On the track, senior Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.) will lead the way for the Mizzou women. Cody holds program top-10 marks in the 100m dash and 200m dash, events she will be competing in, and is coming off a personal record performance in the 100m dash at the Tom Botts Invitational (April 20) where she clocked a time of 11.68.
