Mizzou splits for meets in Arkansas and Iowa

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field will have student-athletes competing at two different meets this weekend, as the Tigers will have athletes at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa. Both meets will take place on Friday, Feb. 8-Satuday, Feb. 9.

TYSON INVITATIONAL

In Fayetteville, field events will begin at 1 p.m. CT Friday with track events to follow at 2:30 p.m. CT. On Saturday, field events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT, with track events at 1 p.m. CT. A live stream of the meet will meet will be available through SEC Network + and live results through flashresults.com.

Mizzou's top field athletes will be on display at the Tyson Invitational, as Mizzou school record holders redshirt sophomore Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.), freshman Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico), freshman Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) and senior Valeria Kostiuk (Kiev, Ukraine) will all be in competition. Ward will compete in the long jump and triple jump, Fisher will compete in the triple jump, while Vilches and Kostiuk will both be in the high jump. In total, 13 of the 17 field athletes in competition for Mizzou at the Tyson Invitational currently hold program top-10 marks.

On the track, Mizzou will be highlighted by redshirt freshman Jayson Ashford (Fairview Heights, Ill.) and senior Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.), who both hold program top-10 marks in events they are slated to run in. Ashford will run in the 400m dash and 200m dash, where he holds the fourth-best time in program history at 21.40. Cody will run in the 60m dash and 200m dash, where she holds the second-best and third-best marks in program history at 7.36 and 24.07, respectively.

IOWA STATE CLASSIC

In Iowa, Mizzou will have six distance runners in three events at the Iowa State Classic. FloTrack will provide a stream and live results for the meet.

Junior Kieran Wood (Cambridge, U.K.) will run in the 3000m run for the first time since setting the school record in the event at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational with a time of 8:04.03. Reigning SEC Freshman of the week Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) will toe the line in the 800m run. Wood and Prodanov each ran in the mile run at the Husker Invitational (Feb. 2), as Wood was the first Mizzou runner to run an indoor sub-four minute mile (3:59.64) while Prodanov set the ninth-fastest time in program history at 4:03.76.
