Track and Field Notches Four Top 10 Finishes to Close SEC Outdoor Championships

The Tigers concluded the three-day event with dominant performances from Funck, Wanjiku, Walker and Burton.
AUBURN, Ala. – Missouri track and field capped off the final day of the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with four top 10 finishes on Saturday evening at Hutsell Rosen Track Facility.
Overall, the women placed 14th with 25.5 points and the men ended in 14th with 16 points.
RECAP
Lasse Funck represented the Black and Gold with a top 10 finish in the 1500m finals, claiming sixth with a 3:44.79.
Missouri tallied two top 10 results in the women's 5000m, with Monica Wanjiku leading the squad in sixth, clocking a 15:55.18. Kobi Walker followed in 10th with a 16:11.44.
Senior Ames Burton placed within the top 30% of the women's discus competition, notching seventh with a 54.79m (179-9). The result marks a personal best and improves her previous No. 6 all-time record for Missouri.
The men's 5000m saw Drew Rogers spearhead the men with a 13:54.22, good for 17th. Tyler Freiner secured 25th, crossing the finish line in 14:09.61.
