Barrios earns her second All-SEC recognition while Innes claims his first.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri track and field's Valentina Barrios and Sam Innes have been named to the All-Southeastern Conference First Team and Second Team, respectively, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Barrios claims the 10th Women's Outdoor All-SEC First Team recognition in program history. Innes becomes the sixth Tiger to earn a spot on the Men's Outdoor All-SEC Second Team. Karissa Schweizer and Gabi Jacobs are the only Tigers in Missouri history to earn All-SEC honors three times for their event. Schweizer earned it for the 1500m and 5000m for the 2016-2018 outdoor seasons and Jacobs was recognized for discus throw in 2017-2019.
The seniors notched their spots following their dominant performances at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 14-16 in Auburn, Ala.
Barrios collected her first conference title after establishing a javelin throw of 58.31m (191-3), a season best and the No. 3 national mark. The victory signified her as the first javelin athlete to take home an SEC title and the second in program history to become a conference champion since Cindy Kiser threw a 41.86m (137-1) at the 1977 Big 8 Outdoor Conference Championships. Barrios adds the accolade to her All-SEC Second Team recognition from last year's event.
Innes took home the silver after tallying a personal best of 71.65m (235-1) in hammer throw, improving his previous No. 2 all-time mark for Missouri and only 10 inches short of the school record. The mark ranks tenth in Division I.
The Tigers look ahead to the NCAA West First Round, spanning May 28-30 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.
