Tigers led 4-1 after four, 4-3 in the seventh, but can’t close it out

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball (28-27, 6-17 SEC) nearly pulled out a series finale triumph Sunday, but another late surge by No. 4 Florida proved to be too much. The Gators ultimately tallied a 7-4 victory, sealing a weekend series sweep to close out the two teams' 2018 regular season.

"We're hurting and obviously disappointed with how this one turned out today. We came out and attacked (Natalie) Lugo well to start things off. Then in the fourth inning, Paige Bange had a big pinch hit single which led to Rylee's (Pierce) two-run home run. I felt like we had all the momentum, but kudos to Florida for answering our push with one of its own. Our pitchers kept battling and we were a couple outs away from stealing this one, but it wasn't meant to be. I told our group that our season isn't done, as we have to focus and prep for the potential NCAA Tournament. Still a lot ahead of us."
