@MizzouSoftball Set for 2018 NCAA Norman Regional This Weekend

Mizzou Softball begins 2018 postseason play this weekend at the NCAA Norman Regional. The Tigers will be joined by host Oklahoma, recipient of the No. 4 national seed and No. 1 seed in this weekend's bracket, No. 3 seed Tulsa and No. 4 seed Boston University.

Mizzou Softball begins 2018 postseason play this weekend at the NCAA Norman Regional. The Tigers will be joined by host Oklahoma, recipient of the No. 4 national seed and No. 1 seed in this weekend's bracket, No. 3 seed Tulsa and No. 4 seed Boston University.

Mizzou's Norman Regional opener is scheduled for Friday (May 18) afternoon against the Golden Hurricanes. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m. CT and the matchup will broadcast online via WatchESPN.

The Tigers are making their 22nd all-time appearance in an NCAA Regional this weekend. Mizzou possesses a strong 43-24 (.642) all-time record in NCAA Regional play with 11 championships. The Tigers are seeking their first trip to an NCAA Super Regional since 2016.

  • The two teams last met in 1999 with the Tigers claiming a 3-2 victory.

  • Mizzou checked-in at No. 24 overall in the latest NCAA RPI ranking, released this past Monday (May 14).
  • The Tigers' top-25 placement is largely due to possessing the nation's No. 2 ranked strength of schedule. Through 55 games played this season, Mizzou has squared off against 26 current top 25 RPI teams and 34 matchups versus current top 50 RPI opponents.
  • The Tigers' 26 contests against current top 25 RPI opponents ranks tied for fifth in the nation.
