Tigers’ defensive miscue in the second inning proves costly
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mizzou Softball (18-16, 1-6 SEC) dropped its series opener at Arkansas on Friday evening inside Bogle Park, 3-1. The Razorbacks scored all three of their runs in the second inning, including a pair of unearned runs courtesy of a costly Mizzou error with two outs.
After threatening with runners on base in the opening three innings of play, the Tiger offense fell flat with zero hits over their final four turns at the plate.

Hear From Coach Fogue
On Friday's series opener…
"We had one bad inning tonight. Madi (Norman) was really solid for us in the circle and gave us a chance to win. Our defense behind her just needed to be a little sharper and the final results probably would've been different. At the plate, we definitely went cold in the final stages of the game. Tomorrow, we need to deliver a better team performance from start to finish and I'll like our chances to come out on top."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Amanda Sanchez extended her safely reached base streak to 28 games following a leadoff walk in the sixth inning. That total ranks sixth all-time in Mizzou Softball history.
- Kessinger put together the Tigers' top at bats tonight, as she tallied her seventh multi-hit game of the season. The Saugus, California, native and Romaine continue to be Mizzou's top hitters in Southeastern Conference action, as they sit with respective .545 and .526 batting averages following tonight's contest.
- Kessinger's stolen base in the first inning marked her fifth overall this year, resetting her single-season career-high in the category.
- Norman recorded her second-straight quality start in SEC action, as she allowed only one earned run vs. Mississippi State (March 17) and tonight against the Razorbacks. Over her past three appearances overall, the Tipton, Missouri, native has limited the opposition to just two earned runs over 17.0 IP.
