Tigers drop two of three to visiting Bulldogs in SEC weekend series
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball (17-14, 1-5 SEC) couldn't claim its first Southeastern Conference series victory, as it fell 6-3 on Sunday afternoon to No. 20 Mississippi State. After falling behind 3-0 early to the Bulldogs, the Tigers stormed back with three runs in the bottom of the third to even the score.
Mississippi State answered with two in the fourth and one in the sixth, as the Tiger offense fell flat once the Bulldogs' Holly Ward entered the circle in relief. Mizzou only managed one hit over its final 4.2 innings at the plate.

On the weekend series…
"Consistency has been a message we've preached to this team all season. I think it was in full display this weekend against Mississippi State, as we alternated good and bad outings as a team. Lauren (Rice), Madi (Norman) and Danielle (Baumgartner) all had some solid stretches in the circle this weekend and that was good to see. Offensively, again it goes back to consistency as we put together some good stretches over the three games, but weren't regularly producing quality at bats."
#MIZ Takeaways
- One-third of the Tigers' total hits this weekend went for extra-bases, as the team produced seven doubles. Kolby Romaine and Burnside led the way individually with two doubles apiece.

- Kessinger posted a pair of multi-hit games against the Bulldogs, marking her fifth and sixth multi-hit efforts this season.
