Hear From Coach Fogue
On tonight's doubleheader…
"It was definitely a tale of two games tonight. In game one, we had some aggressive at bats and were hitting the ball hard, evident of our three home runs. In game two, we couldn't quite break through and had too many swings and misses. Our starting pitchers struggled in both games, but I was pleased with how our relief pitchers responded when they entered. Tonight was continued evidence of what we have to continue to fight, as better consistency will lead to more positive results."
#MIZ Takeaways
- In her first start of the season, Bange delivered in a big way in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader with her first multi-hit game and home run of the year. Her grand slam in the fifth inning was Mizzou's first since April 18, 2017, as Braxton Burnside delivered a grand slam against the very same SEMO Redhawks.
- Following seven consecutive games without a home run, Mizzou broke out with three home runs in game one against SEMO. It marked the Tigers' fourth outing with three-plus home runs this year.
- Mizzou's 10 runs scored marked its fifth double-digit scoring output of the season.
- Norman's stellar relief work in game one propelled her to her seventh victory this season. She tied her single-season career-high in wins, matching her win total from a season ago.
- With a hit in each game today, Burnside extended her team-leading hitting streak to eight games. It's T-3rd as the longest hitting streak by a Tiger this season.
- Pierce was responsible for half of Mizzou's four total hits in game two, as she secured her 11th multi-hit game this season. That total ranks second amongst Tiger hitters, trailing only Kolby Romaine's 12 multi-hit efforts at the plate.
