COLUMBIA, MO. - No. 15 Mizzou Women's Basketball (18-5, 6-4) wraps up a three-game homestand with a matchup against Kentucky on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT. Mizzou is searching for back-to-back wins in the head-to-head series with the Wildcats for the first time in program history. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets early to avoid lines by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or buying online here. Thursday is also All-You-Can-Eat Night at Mizzou Arena. Fans can buy a $10 wristband at the door and eat all the popcorn, hot dogs and soda they want. The first 40 Mizzou students in attendance will receive a free wristband courtesy of head coach Robin Pingeton.
No. 15 Mizzou Wraps Up Homestand with Matchup vs. Kentucky
- The Tigers have won 11 of their last 15 regular season SEC games. Mizzou owns a winning streak against seven of 13 SEC opponents.
- Mizzou has had a higher field goal percentage than its opponent in 21 of its 23 games this season. The Tigers held Mississippi State to its worst shooting performance (30.5) and scoring performance (57) of the season.
- The Tigers have already clinched 18 wins for just the sixth time since 2000. A victory Thursday would give Mizzou four consecutive seasons with at least 19 wins for the first time since 1983-87.
- Junior forward Cierra Porter entered Monday night's contest averaging just 5.1 points per game during league play after battling a bout with the flu and getting back up to speed. Porter exploded for a career-high 27 points vs. Florida, making a career-best 11 field goals on 16 attempts. The junior had 21 points at halftime, the most she's ever scored in a single half during her illustrious career.
- Porter drained a career-high three triples in the process vs. Florida. She had made just four three-pointers all season entering the game. She and fellow forward Jordan Frericks combined for 45 of Mizzou's 66 points during the victory, the most combined points for the duo in their careers.
- The Tigers have been dominant at home. They have won 15 of their past 18 games at home. Mizzou has won 24 of its last 28 games at home and 40 of the last 46.
- Lauren Aldridge ranks third in the league and 29th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.6) and 18th in the league in minutes played (31.3).
- Aldridge has piled up 36 assists in 10 league games.
- Mizzou is shooting 37.4 percent from beyond the arc this season (179-of-479). As of now that's on pace to set a new program record, edging the 1989-90 and 2013-14 teams who shot 37.3 percent from deep.
- Mizzou currently ranks third in the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage. The Tigers have stepped up from deep in conference play, shooting 39.8 percent over their first 10 league games, which ranks second in the SEC during conference action.
- In 10 conference games, Pingeton's squad is averaging a league-best 8.4 three-pointers per game.
- Mizzou ranks 13th in the nation in rebounding margin (+9.1) and leads the SEC.
- Sophie Cunningham leads the SEC in free throw pct. min. 75 attempts (.849) and ranks third in 3-point field goal pct. shooting 44.1 percent while ranking seventh in the league in field goal percentage (54.8). She is the only guard in the top seven in the league in FG percentage. Cunningham ranks sixth in the nation among active players in career free throw percentage, shooting 84.3 percent at the line.
- She was named one of 20 candidates named to the John R. Wooden Late Season Top 20 Watch List, an honor that goes to the nation's top player.
- The Tigers rank second in the SEC and 12th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (35.1%) and fourth in the SEC in field goal percentage (45.8%). Mizzou is one just three teams in the SEC to rank in the top four in the league in both categories.
Mizzou vs. Kentucky
- Mizzou picked up its first victory over Kentucky as a member of the SEC when the two programs last met on Jan. 30, 2017, at Mizzou Arena as the Tigers prevailed, 73-67. Kentucky was the final team Mizzou needed to beat to clinch a win over every SEC opponent as a member of the league.
- Mizzou has won just two meetings in the all-time series with Kentucky. A win Thursday would give the Tigers back-to-back victories in the head-to-head series for the first time ever.
