COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Basketball (12-7, 2-3) continues SEC play with a home matchup against No. 25 Texas A&M on Thursday night. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
PROMOS
- The game serves as the annual We Back Pat game. Fans are encouraged to wear purple to support the Pat Summitt Foundation and raise awareness for the battle against Alzheimer's.
- $1 dollar popcorn at the concession stands to celebrate National Popcorn Day
OF NOTE
- Mizzou's victory over Vanderbilt marked the first time in program history that the Tigers have won back-to-back road games over the Commodores in the all-time series.
- Texas A&M will be the first ranked opponent Mizzou has hosted at Mizzou Arena this season. The Tigers fell in road contests at Top 25 Washington and Kentucky earlier during the campaign. Texas A&M has been ranked in four of the last five meetings between the two programs.
- The last four games between Mizzou and Texas A&M have been decided by seven points or less, including an OT thriller in College Station last season.
- Mizzou is searching for its first home win over the Aggies since Feb. 12, 2005. The Tigers' last win in the series came in 2015 when Mizzou upended then-No. 12 Texas A&M on the road, 70-69.
- Mizzou has been dominant in first quarters this season, outscoring opponents 335-258 in the frame, including 81-54 in SEC play.
- Sophomore Sophie Cunningham has played her best basketball of the season of late. The sophomore paced Mizzou with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting (62.5 percent) vs. Alabama and followed with a season-high 32 points on 12-of-17 shooting at LSU. She is one of two players in the SEC to shoot above 60 percent in multiple games during league play this season. The 32-point outburst is the second-best performance by an SEC player during conference play thus far. She's now reached 20 points in a game five times this season and 15 times in her young career (which includes just 48 total games played).
- Senior Sierra Michaelis racked up 19 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocked shots against Vanderbilt. The last time a Tiger reached those plateaus in all five categories in a single game was Amanda Lassiter in 2001. She needs just 18 more points to become Mizzou's 34th member of the 1,000-point club, joining teammate Jordan Frericks.
FRESHMEN STEPPING UP
- In Sunday's road win over Vanderbilt, freshmen Jordan Chavis and Amber Smith were instrumental in the victory, combining for 24 points and 7-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Smith's three 3-pointers were a career-high and her dagger with 1:15 remaining proved to be the game-defining shot.
- Sunday marked the sixth time this season Chavis and Smith have combined to score 15 points or more. When one of them reaches double digits, Mizzou is 5-1.
- Chavis is the only player in the SEC to make all of her 3-point attempts in a game (when taking at least four attempts) after going 4-of-4 from beyond the arc vs. Vanderbilt. She is one of two freshmen in the SEC with at least four threes in conference play this season and the only freshman in the league to make four in one game.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M
- Texas A&M cracked this week's Associated Press Top 25 after winning its third straight contest. The Aggies have won six of their last seven games and opened SEC play 4-1.
- Texas A&M has four players averaging double figures, led by sophomore Danni Williams, who leads the SEC in scoring with 18.2 points per game. Junior Khaalia Hillsman adds 16.9 points per game. They are the only tandem in the SEC that each rank in the top five in the league in scoring.
- Senior point guard Curtyce Knox tops the SEC in assists with an impressive 9.7 assists per game. That is the best average in the nation.
- Sophomore Anriel Howard leads the league in rebounding with 11.4 boards per contest. She has 10 double-doubles this season.
LAST TIME OUT
- Mizzou picked up its first conference road win with a gritty 74-68 victory over Vanderbilt on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium. Senior guard Sierra Michaelis led four Tigers in double figures with 19 points. She added a team-high six rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocked shots.
- Mizzou sunk a season-high 13 three-pointers to push past Vanderbilt. The Tigers have made 25 triples over the last two games.
- Freshman Jordan Chavis led the three-point barrage, shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. She finished with 12 crucial points and two assists in 26 strong minutes. Freshman Amber Smith posted 12 points of her own behind a career-high three triples and added four rebounds.
