COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Basketball (10-3) is riding a four-game win streak after an unblemished homestand. The Tigers wrap up their nonconference slate on Wednesday at Saint Louis. Tip off from Chaifetz Arena is set for 7 p.m. CT.
OF NOTE
- Mizzou is 12-2 against in-state opponents during the Robin Pingeton coaching era.
- Mizzou has never lost to Saint Louis, winning all 20 meetings. With Pingeton at the helm, Mizzou is 4-0 against the Billikens.
- Mizzou won the last matchup at Chaifetz Arena, 74-59, to open the 2013-14 campaign.
- Mizzou is 23-0 all-time against Atlantic 10 opponents.
- With an undefeated 8-0 record at home in nonconference play this season, Mizzou has now won 32 consecutive nonconference home games. The last such loss occurred during the 2013 WNIT. Mizzou's winning streak in nonconference regular season home games has climbed to 46.
- The Tigers are tied with Ohio State for first in the nation in total free throws made with 210. Mizzou has reached that mark with just 266 attempts while the Buckeyes have attempted 300 foul shots.
- Sophomore Cierra Porter ranks seventh in the nation in total free throws made with 65. She's one of two true forwards in the top 10.
TOUGH ON THE GLASS
- During the four-game homestand, Mizzou owned a +14.2 rebound margin, outrebounding its opponents 177-120 combined.
- After outpacing UT-Martin, 46-27, and UC Riverside, 48-29, on the glass, Mizzou has outrebounded opponents in 10 of its 13 games. The Tigers are 9-1 in those contests.
- Mizzou has now grabbed 40+ rebounds seven times already in 2016-17 (going 7-0 in those games) after doing so 13 times last season.
- Mizzou ranks first in the SEC and sixth in the entire nation in total defensive rebounds with 367.
- Mizzou's +7.3 rebound margin ranks seventh in the SEC this season despite the Tigers having just three active true forwards.
PORTER IN A GROOVE
- Sophomore Cierra Porter is averaging a double-double with 19.0 points and 11.8 rebounds per game during the Tigers' four-game winning streak. She is one of 27 players in the NCAA with at least six double-doubles this season. When Porter has recorded a double-double, Mizzou is 6-0.
- As Mizzou's lone true forward averaging more than 15 minutes per game, Porter is the only player in the SEC ranking in the top 12 in the league in scoring, top five in rebounding and top five in blocked shots.
- She is tied for second in the SEC in total blocked shots with 23 swats (which is already more than her total output from last season) and leads the league in total offensive rebounds with 52.
- Porter is coming off a career-high 26-point, 12-rebound performance vs. UC Riverside after posting 19 points and 14 rebounds vs. UT-Martin. That's the best two-game stretch of her career. She's now scored in double digits in 13 consecutive games to begin the season.
- Earlier this season, she racked up 13 points, a career-high 15 rebounds and a career-high five blocked shots vs. Western Illinois. She is the only player in the SEC to post a 15-rebound, 5-block performance in a game this season.
- Cierra (listed as No. 21) is donning her sister Bri Porter's No. 4 jersey this season. The gesture pays respect to Bri, who will be out for the 2016-17 season with a significant knee injury.
- Porter has been named to the All-Tournament teams following both the Preseason WNIT and the Junkanoo Jam. She was one of six players to be named to the Preseason WNIT All-Tournament Team after averaging 12.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. At the Junkanoo Jam, she racked up 16.5 points per game, including 19 points in Mizzou's win over Creighton.
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
- Saint Louis has lost two of its last three games, but the Billikens are coming off an impressive 73-70 victory over Washington State. Saint Louis is out to an 8-3 start after beginning the season on a five-game winning streak.
- Mizzou and Saint Louis share two common opponents in SIUE and Indiana State. Mizzou beat both by double digits at home while Saint Louis went 1-1 with a 70-67 loss to Indiana State on Dec. 6.
- The Billkens are captained by three scorers averaging double digits in Jackie Kemph, Sadie Stipanovich and Jordyn Frantz. Stipanovich is the daughter of former Mizzou standout Steve Stipanovich. Sadie is the the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after back-to-back double doubles last week.
- Kemph is Saint Louis' leading scorer with 14.7 points per game. She also leads the Billikens in assists with 7.8 per contest. That average ranks fifth in all of Division I.
- Saint Louis has six total players chipping in at least seven points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
- Mizzou extended its season-high winning streak to four games, defeating visiting UC-Riverside, 68-62. The Tigers claimed their 10th victory of the year, marking their sixth consecutive season with 10-plus wins in nonconference action.
- Porter and Sierra Michaelis paced the Tigers' offense Monday with respective double-doubles. Porter finished with a career-high 26 points and 12 rebounds and Michaelis posted 10 points and a season-high 11 rebounds. It marked the second time this season that a Tiger duo posted double-doubles in the same game, joining Lindsey Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) and Porter's strong performances against SIU-Edwardsville (Dec. 7).
- Mizzou was sensational in the opening quarter, shooting 9-of-12 (75-percent) from the field. The Tigers jumped out to a 16-0 lead early and held off a second half UC Riverside surge to seal the win.
