COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Basketball (9-3) has won five of its last six games and looks to finish a four-game homestand on a high note when the Tigers face UC Riverside (5-3) on Monday. Tip off at Mizzou Arena is slated for 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network Plus and KTGR.
OF NOTE
- This is just the second meeting between Mizzou and UC Riverside with the lone matchup occurring in 2010.
- The last time the two teams squared off, current assistant coach and former Tiger, RaeShara Brown was one of four Mizzou players in double figures as head coach Robin Pingeton's squad prevailed in a tight 68-65 contest.
- Mizzou is 7-4 all-time against Big West opponents.
- With a triumph on Monday, Mizzou would have at least 10 victories in nonconference play for the sixth consecutive season and at least eight home wins before January for the fifth consecutive campaign.
- Mizzou is looking for its 32nd consecutive home nonconference victory on Monday, with the last loss coming on March 20, 2013.
- After dominating UT-Martin on the glass, 46-27, on Saturday, Mizzou has outrebounded opponents in nine of its 12 games. The Tigers are 8-1 in those contests.
- Mizzou has now grabbed 40+ rebounds six times already in 2016-17 (going 6-0 in those games) after doing so 13 total times last season.
CONSISTENT EFFICIENCY AT THE FOUL LINE
- Mizzou ranks 16th in the nation in free throw percentage as a team so far this season as the Tigers are shooting 78.0 percent from the line. That percentage currently ranks second in the Southeastern Conference.
- Mizzou is tied for fourth in Division I in total free throws made with 188.
- Sophomores Cierra Porter (t-8th) and Sophie Cunningham (t-18th) are the only duo in the nation from the same team ranking in the top 25 in Division I in free throws made. They are also the only players from the SEC in the top 25
- Mizzou shot 78.3 percent from the free throw line in its last outing vs. UT-Martin. Mizzou has shot above 70 percent from the charity stripe in 10 games this season and above 75 percent six times.
- After averaging 13.7 made free throws per game last season, Mizzou is up to 15.7 made free throws per game through 12 games in 2016-17.
- Mizzou is one of six teams in the nation that have made at least 180 free throws this season and one of five teams to do so in just 12 games or less.
- Mizzou has put together the two-best single-game performances from the free throw line as a team in the Southeastern Conference and three of the top seven.
- Mizzou's 27-of-28 (96.4 percent) performance from the free throw line against Indiana State matches the third-best FT percentage in school history (min. 10 attempts) – the only two performances that were better are a 21-for-21 mark against Oklahoma in 2004 (a 77-65 win) and a 10-for-10 performance against North Florida in 2011 (a 67-46 win). Mizzou is the only team in the nation to shoot above 95 percent in a game while taking more than 25 attempts.
MONEY MICHAELIS
- Senior guard Sierra Michaelis hit five three-pointers in the third quarter alone to help Mizzou beat UT-Martin, 80-69 on Saturday. She's now made at least four threes in four games already this season.
- With 27 trifectas (2nd-most in the SEC) this season, Michaelis has now made 143 triples in her career. That moves her into sole possession of third all-time in program history for career three-pointers made.
- Michaelis ranks fifth among active SEC players in career threes and recently cracked the top ten among active SEC players in career points with 888 career points.
- Michaelis has notched 20.3 points per game over the last three games. That's the best three-game stretch of her career.
- Michaelis has scored in double figures seven times this season. Mizzou is 6-1 in those contests.
- She received her first career SEC weekly honor when she captured SEC Co-Player of the Week recognition after a pair of outstanding performances last week.
- Michaelis made a career-high six three-pointers against SIUE, connecting from distance on Mizzou's first three possessions to begin the game. She is one of six players in the SEC to drain six treys in one game this season and one of two players in the league to hit at least five threes in a single game multiple times in 2016-17.
- She then recorded a career-high nine steals against Wichita State. It's the most steals in a game by any SEC player this season. She's one of five players in all of Division I to record that many in a game thus far and the only player from a power five program. Michaelis is the first Mizzou player to do so since Tracy Franklin in 2001.
SCOUTING UC RIVERSIDE
- UC Riverside is riding a four-game win streak after a pair of road victories last week over CSU Bakersfield and Loyola Marymount. The Highlanders used a clutch buzzer-beating three to down LMU on Saturday.
- UC Riverside is 2-2 on the road this season, with both losses coming to PAC-12 foes in USC and California.
- The Highlanders are captained by experienced senior Rejane Verin, who enters Monday's contest leading her team in points (16.6 PPG), rebounds (7.1 RPG), assists (4.5 APG) and blocked shots (1.4 BPG).
- Simone DeCoud (12.9 PPG) and Lauren Holt (10.9 PPG) are also averaging double figures for the Highlanders
- UC Riverside's roster features four international players, including three players who are French natives.
LAST TIME OUT
- Mizzou used a well-balanced offensive attack to run past Tennessee-Martin, 80-69, on an icy Saturday afternoon in Mid-Missouri. Four players scored in double-figures, marking the sixth time Mizzou has accomplished that this season, as the Tigers shot 27-for-56 from the floor and held off a comeback attempt from the Skyhawks in the fourth quarter for the win.
- Michaelis poured in a game-high 23 points to lead Mizzou. Sophomore guard Sophie Cunningham tallied 21 points, six rebounds and three assists and sophomore Cierra Porter posted 19 points and 14 rebounds to secure her fifth double-double of the season. The 14 boards for Porter were one shy of a career-high. Senior Lindsey Cunningham added 13 points, five rebounds and two assists in the win.
