
Women's Basketball Clashes with BYU in WBIT Second Round

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou women's basketball will face BYU in the second round of the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament at 8 p.m. CST on Monday night at the Marriott Center.
Mizzou (17-16, 4-12 SEC) defeated Seton Hall to advance to the Round of 32 on Thursday.
Junior guard Grace Slaughter led Mizzou with a double-double performance of 22 points and 10 rebounds. The outing marked the eighth double-double of the season for the junior.
With the point total, Slaughter passed Jordan Frericks (2013-18) for 12th on the program's all-time scoring list. In addition, the junior (618) is eight points away from passing Joni Davis (624 - 1983-84) and Sophie Cunningham (624 - 2018-19) for fourth on the program's all-time single season scoring list
Senior forward Jordana Reisma tallied 17 points and four boards in 35 minutes of action.
Thursday marked the first postseason win for the program since a victory over Illinois State in the opening round of the 2023 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
This is Mizzou's first-ever appearance in the WBIT and 24th overall postseason appearance as a program.
With the Tigers' WBIT bid, Kellie Harper has taken five schools to postseason appearances.
Slaughter (618) is just eight points away from passing Joni Davis (624 - 1983-84) and Sophie Cunningham (624 - 2018-19) for fourth on the program's all-time single season scoring list.
The junior is 37th in the country and sixth in the SEC with 18.7 points this season.
Slaughter has increased her averages from 15.0 points per game to 18.7 points per game (18th to 6th SEC) this season and from 3.6 rebounds to 6.7 boards.
In addition, Slaughter is 19th in the country and second in the SEC with 35.99 minutes per game this year.
Relying all season on shooting beyond the arc, Mizzou is ranked 37th in the country and fifth in the SEC in 3-point percentage at 34.8%.
The Tigers are 29th nationally and fourth in the SEC with 8.4 makes from beyond the arc per game.
At the charity stripe, the Tigers rank 18th in the country and first in the SEC in free-throw percentage at 77.7%
BYU enters the contest following an opening round victory over Alabama A&M on Thursday.
In his first season with the Cougars and first overall as a head coach, Lee Cummard has guided the program to a 23-11 mark.
BYU is led by sophomore guard Delaney Gibb who averages 17.5 points per game this year. Gibb was recently named to the 2026 All-Big 12 First Team after earning a unanimous selection as 2025 Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
Monday will mark the seventh meeting between the teams as Mizzou holds a 6-0 series record. The contest will be the first matchup taking place in Provo.
The Tigers last faced BYU in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament, where they earned a 78-69 victory behind 20 points from Cunningham.
