Mizzou wrestling returns home to Hearnes Center to welcome No. 5 Oklahoma State on Friday, Jan. 23, and Northern Colorado on Sunday, Jan. 25. The duals will be streamed on ESPN+ starting at 6:30 p.m. CT and 1 p.m. CT, respectively.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Tigers had a successful western roadtrip, defeating Arizona State, 22-7, and Utah Valley, 33-9.
- Cam Steed and Aeoden Sinclair had back-to-back pins against the Sun Devils at 174 and 184, respectively, for 12 team points.
- Evan Bates (197) and Mack Mauger (125) added decision wins, while Josh Edmond (149) got the major decision to seal the dual for the team.
- In the match against Utah Valley, Missouri won seven of 10 matches, including a pin, three technical falls and a major decision.
- Sinclair (184) earned his team-leading eighth tech of the season.
- Redshirt junior J Conway secured a first-period pin against the Wolverines while filling in at 165 pounds.
TRIPLE THREAT
- With the return of reshirt junior Cam Steed at 174 pounds to the starting lineup, Missouri is back with its triple threat guantlet from 174 to 197.
- Steed snagged a first-period fall against the Sun Devils in his first match back, followed by another pin by Aeoden Sinclair (184) and a tough decision win by Evan Bates (197).
- The trio followed that performance with a technical fall, technical fall, major decision at Utah Valley.
- Mizzou's triple threat is ranked No. 10, No. 2 and No. 12, respectively, at their weights by InterMat.
- Additionally, they are a combined 45-9 this season with 33 bonus-point wins, 12 of which have some via fall.
PACING THE PACK
- Redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair leads the team with 20 wins, followed closely by redshirt senior Evan Bates with 19.
- Sinclair tops the team with 12 bonus-point wins and six pins.
- The third-ranked 184-pounder also leads the team with 87 takedowns this season, followed by redshirting freshman Seth Mendoza (53) and Evan Bates (51).
MAUGER MODE
- 125-pound redshirt freshman Mack Mauger is gaining momentum after becoming Missouri's first Soldier Salute Champion (Jan. 3-4) and upsetting No. 13 Kysen Terulina (North Carolina).
- Mauger, a Blackfoot, Idaho, native, most recently went 2-0 on the Tigers' western roadtrip, including an 8-2 decision over No. 30 Bridger Ricks at Utah Valley, just three hours from his hometown.
- The redshirt freshman moves to 17-8 with seven bonus-point wins and is ranked No. 24 at 125 pounds by InterMat.
SIGNED, SEALED, SINCLAIR
- Continuing to dominate, redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair has earned a technical fall or pin in eight straight matches.
- Sinclair teched his way to a Soldier Salute title (Jan. 3-4) before going 2-0 at Arizona State and Utah Valley with a first-period fall and tech, respectively.
- The third-ranked 184-pounder leads the team with 20 wins to just one loss, and has an 78-1 takedown ratio this season to average 3.7 takedowns per match.
- Moreover, the redshirt freshman's 78 takedowns lead all NCAA wrestlers this season per TrackWrestling.
FULL STEED AHEAD
- Tiger Style has been bolstered by the return of NCAA All-American Cam Steed to the lineup at 174 pounds.
- Steed has been out due to injury since National Duals on Nov. 16.
- The redshirt junior returned to action with a pin and technical fall (17-2) at Arizona State and Utah Valley, respectively.
- Despite a tough 6-4 start to the season, Steed is ranked 10th among 174's by InterMat with four of his wins coming with bonus points.
HEARNES IS HOME
- Teague Travis, a redshirt senior transfer from Oklahoma State, returned home to Columbia and will make his Hearnes Center debut against his former team on Friday, Jan. 23.
- Travis finished second at 157 pounds at Soldier Salute, Jan. 3-4, in his first contest donning the Black and Gold and holds a 4-2 record in countable matches this season.
- The two-time NCAA qualifier was ranked at No. 15 at 157 by InterMat following the tournament.
- The four-time Missouri State Champion has ties to Tiger Style as well, with Travis' father, Brooks Travis and uncle Corey Hodapp wrestled at Mizzou.
DEDICATED TO DEVELOPMENT
- True freshman Seth Mendoza has been making a name for himself during his redshirt season, teching his way to the Soldier Salute final at 149 pounds, including a 17-2 win over No. 30 Gabe Willochell (Wyoming) in 2:27 during the semifinals, and topped the podium at Cyclone Open, Jan. 19.
- Mendoza has defeated four-ranked wrestlers this season and has totaled seven bonus-point wins, but holds a 6-4 record of countable matches.
- Additionally, true freshman David Gleason made the finals of the Cyclone Open (Jan. 19) and placed seventh at Solder Salute (Jan. 3-4).
LAST TIME VS. OKLAHOMA STATE
- Missouri dropped a tough 36-3 match last season in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on February 2, 2025.
- The sole win for the Tigers came from Josh Edmond, defeating Kolter Burton 11-4 at 141 pounds.
- The dual served as the first of three meetings between No. 6 Cam Amine and No. 15 Cam Steed last season, with Steed dropping a close 2-1 decision.
THE SERIES: TIGERS - COWBOYS
- The match between Missouri and Oklahoma State will serve as the 57th meeting between the two wrestling programs.
- OSU holds a commanding 47-8-1 record against Mizzou; all eight wins for the Tigers have come under head coach Brian Smith.
- The last win for the Black and Gold over the Cowboys came during the 2021-22 season, 21-20.
LAST TIME VS. NORTHERN COLORADO
- Last season, Missouri began the season at Northern Colorado, securing a 25-14 win on November 2, 2024.
- The Tigers won six of 10 matches, including closing out the dual with a Cam Steed pin (165), Keegan O'Toole technical fall (174) and Colton Hawks major decision (9-1).
- Four wrestlers made their Mizzou dual debuts, with Aeoden Sinclair at 197, Seth Nitzel at 285, Gage Walker at 125, and Steed at 165.
THE SERIES: TIGERS - BEARS
- Missouri is 3-0-0 all-time against Northern Colorado.
- Head coach Brian Smith is 2-0-0 against the Bears during his Mizzou tenure.
- Additionally, the first dual between the two programs took place during the 1977-78 season before not meeting again until 2021-22.
