Led by 18 returners and an exciting addition of incoming talent, the Tigers are set to begin their 2026 fall baseball slate on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Taylor Stadium.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball will host Iowa for an exhibition Saturday afternoon (12 p.m. CT) at Taylor Stadium to officially kick off its fall season.
The Tigers fall roster features 18 returners from last season’s team that improved its win total by eight games and doubled its SEC win total. Mizzou capped off its season by earning the program’s first postseason win since 2017 with a 10-8 victory over 17th-ranked and eventual College World Series qualifier Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament.
Beyond the 18 returners for the Tigers, Jackson and the Mizzou staff pieced together the No. 20 transfer portal class in the country, according to D1Baseball.
Headlining the class is High Point transfer and reigning Big South Player of the Year Seojun Oh, New Mexico State transfer Steve Solorzano, Lipscomb transfer Cam Pruitt, FGCU transfer Wilfred Gonzalez, NJCAA All-American (Weatherford College) Ty Waid and sophomore Tennessee transfer and 2025 MLB Draft pick Ethan Moore.
“We’re really excited about the group we’ve been able to add through the portal. We feel like we addressed some specific needs on both sides of the ball while adding a lot of experience, athleticism and versatility to our roster,” head coach Kerrick Jackson said. “There are guys in this group who have produced at a really high level, and there are others who we believe still have their best baseball ahead of them. More than anything, we wanted to bring in guys who fit what we’re building here, who want to compete and who can help us win.”
One of the top power bats in the portal (No. 40 on D1Baseball’s list of top transfer portal hitters), Oh, a senior catcher from Anyang, South Korea, earned Big South Player of the Year honors after a monster season in which he slashed .351/.448/.668 with 72 hits. He slugged 17 home runs, 14 doubles and totaled 60 RBI, leading the squad in homers and RBI. Before his lone season at High Point, Oh combined for 13 home runs and 79 RBI in two seasons with New Mexico Military Institute at the JUCO level.
Solorzano, a senior infielder, combined to slash .336/.447/.542 over three seasons at New Mexico State, totaling 20 home runs and 42 doubles, which place him 10th on NMSU’s all-time list. In 2026 alone, Solorzano slugged 22 doubles (tied for seventh most in a single season at NMSU) while leading the squad in batting average (.341), hits (78), runs (55), RBI (51), home runs (9), doubles (22) and total bases (131), and ranking second in slugging (.572).
Pruitt, a senior infielder/outfielder, was named Second Team All-ASUN after leading the ASUN Tournament Champions and NCAA-regional qualifying Bisons in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.357), hits (76), doubles (18), RBI (48) and stolen bases (15).
Gonzalez, a senior transfer from FGCU, was the lone Eagle to start in all 58 games of the season. The middle infielder ranked fourth on the team in batting average (.323) and hits (74) while ranking second on the squad with 31 walks.
One of the top JUCO bats in the portal, Waid, a senior infielder/outfielder and 2026 NJCAA Second Team All-America selection, put up video-game numbers at Weatherford College last season. After starting his collegiate career at Arkansas and spending a season at McLellan CC, Waid exploded with 28 home runs and 88 RBI while slashing 368/.472/.886 in 58 games during his lone season at Weatherford College. A career .326 hitter in two seasons at the JUCO level, Waid has totaled 38 home runs and 129 RBI while recording six multi-homer games, including a trio of three-homer games.
Moore, a 2025 MLB Draft Selection by the Cincinnati Reds (Round 18, Pick 534), redshirted during his freshman season at Tennessee and did not appear in any games. He chose Tennessee out of high school, rated as the No. 94 overall prospect in the nation and No. 35 shortstop in Perfect Game’s class of 2025. In addition, he was tabbed as the No. 5 overall player and No. 2 shortstop prospect from the state of Illinois in 2025 by Perfect Game.
Additional portal signees for the Tigers include Anthony Diaz (Sr. / OF/ New Mexico), Khamaree Thomas (Jr. / OF / Michigan State), Jadyn Furgason (So. / RHP / Texas), Carter DeGondea (5th / LHP / Georgia Southern), Sam Schmidt (Sr. / RHP / Jacksonville State), Charlie Wortham (So. / C / Mississippi State), Adam Kilburn (So. / RHP / San Jacinto CC) and Nolan Foster (5th / RHP / Abilene Christian).
Diaz led the Lobos with 65 hits, 96 total bases and 54 runs while ranking second on the squad with 18 doubles in 2026. He logged an impressive 20 multi-hit games in his debut Division I season after two years in the JUCO ranks.
Thomas, a junior from Chicago, began his collegiate career at Michigan State where he spent two seasons, breaking through in 2026 as a sophomore to earn Michigan State’s Steve Garvey Most Improved Player team award after hitting .319 with 58 hits and scoring 40 runs. He added 12 doubles, a pair of home runs and tallied 31 RBI while playing plus outfield defense to earn his team’s defensive player of the year award.
Furgason, a St. Louis native and St. John Vianney product chose Texas out of high school action and took a redshirt in his freshman season with the Longhorns. He was high school teammates with Mizzou sophomore pitcher JD Dohrmann.
DeGondea, a fifth-year lefty and 2026 weekend rotation piece, combined for a 5-6 record on the mound in 32 appearances and 16 starts (14 in 2026) in two seasons at the DI level. The southpaw combined to throw 108.2 innings with 91 strikeouts, 51 walks and a 6.46 ERA across two seasons at Georgia Southern.
Schmidt, a senior right-handed pitcher from Hoover, Alabama, began his collegiate career at Troy before stops at Northwest Florida State (JUCO) in 2025 and Jacksonville State in 2026. Schmidt has made 11 career relief appearances and pitched 10.1 innings at the DI level, striking out 15 and walking seven.
Wortham, a highly touted catching prospect from St. Peters, Missouri, redshirted at Mississippi State as a freshman in 2026. He was rated the top catching prospect in Missouri and the No. 4 overall player in the state for 2025 according to Perfect Game, who also ranked him as the No. 14 catcher nationally in the 2025 class.
Kilburn, a sophomore right-hander from St. Louis, began his collegiate career at San Jacinto CC where he threw 24 innings with a 3.79 ERA, 28 strikeouts and 18 walks while opponents hit just .188 against him during his lone JUCO season in 2026. Coming out of high school in 2025, Kilburn was ranked as the No. 12 RHP in Missouri and No. 30 player overall.
Foster, a right-handed pitcher from McKinney, Texas, began his collegiate career at Texas Tech where he did not see game action before spending two seasons at Abilene Christian (2024-2025). Foster did not pitch collegiately in 2026, but returned to game action for the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod League during the summer where he made five relief appearances and recorded a 3.12 ERA over 8.2 innings with 10 strikeouts.
