COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri softball fell to No. 1 Texas, 8-0, Saturday evening at Mizzou Softball Stadium.

With the loss, the Tigers move to 20-19 on the season and 2-8 in SEC play. The Longhorns extended their record to 35-3 and 8-2 in the conference.

Texas jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and punctuated the run-rule win with three in the fifth after a solo homer in the third.

The Longhorns knocked two homers Saturday including a three-run shot from Joley Mitchell.

Mizzou made a pair of defensive gems in the field Saturday. Kayley Lenger came up with a highlight reel catch in center in the top of the third before Catcher Julia Crenshaw caught an advancing runner at second in the fourth.

Crenshaw has now caught six batters stealing which ranks second overall in the SEC.

Offensively, the Tigers couldn't solve Texas starting pitcher Teagan Kavan who registered a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Marissa McCann was assessed the loss (7-8), allowing six earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts over four innings.

Nathalie Touchet came in to relieve McCann in the top of the fifth allowing two earned runs on three hits.

NEXT UP

The Tigers will next wrap the series with No. 1 Texas Sunday with a doubleheader. Game times are set for noon, CT and 3 p.m.
Sunday's game at noon will be televised on ESPN2 while the finale will be on SEC Network+.
