No. 12 Gymnastics Faces No. 5 Kentucky In SEC Showdown

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 12-ranked University of Missouri gymnastics team (6-1, 2-1 SEC) will be back in the SEC competition this week as they travel to Lexington, Kentucky, on Friday, Feb. 9, for a showdown against No. 5 Kentucky (5-2, 3-1 SEC). First touch from Rupp Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, and the action will be streamed on SEC Network +.
LAST TIME OUT
- The No. 9 Tigers extended their winning streak to three meets with a victory over Texas Woman's, 197.025-195.475, last Saturday at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton, Texas.
- The Tigers have now won six of their last seven dual meets dating back to last year and have surpassed 197 in 11 of their last 12 outings.
- The visiting Tigers claimed a share of all four event titles for the second time this season.
NO. 12 IN THE RANKINGS
- The Fab Floor retained its spot at No. 6 in the rankings, marking Missouri's best event with a 49.465 season average. The team put up a 49.500, marking the 12th consecutive meet of scoring 49.300 or higher.
- On vault, the Tigers held onto a spot in the top 10 with the No. 9 ranking with a composite score of 49.280.
- The Tigers gained a position on beam to check in at No. 14 with a 49.155 average.
- Missouri moved up one spot in the bars rankings to tie with Minnesota and Auburn at No. 15 with a 49.175 through five weeks. The team has now posted a score higher than 49 on the event in three consecutive outings.
SUPER SI
- With her score of 9.925 on floor this past weekend, graduate student Sienna Schreiber became the all-time leading points scorer in Missouri gymnastics history with 2,002.800 career points.
- The Cumming, Georgia, product followed up her record-breaking routine by coming close to perfection with a 9.975 on beam, tying her near-perfect career best score for the second time this season.
- As a result of her standout performances in the meet's second half, Schreiber tied a season-best 39.525 in the all-around.
- With her pair of 9.9 routines, Schreiber now sits just one 9.9 away from 50 for her career.
- Schreiber has now hit three consecutive floor routines of 9.9 or better. It is the first time that she has compiled consecutive 9.9s on the apparatus.
WE WANT SOME MOORE
- Junior Jocelyn Moore has proven to be one of the most consistent event specialists in the nation, making her mark as Missouri's floor anchor.
- Moore shared the floor title at Texas Woman's with a 9.950. The Hillsborough, New Jersey, product has posted a 9.9 or higher on floor in eight consecutive meets, marking the longest active streak in the SEC.
- In addition to her floor prowess, Moore has been strong on vault with a trio of 9.9 vaults through the Tigers' first five outings.
A GRANNE PERFORMANCE
- Junior Grace Anne Davis helped Missouri put together a strong second half of Saturday's meet at Texas Woman's with a career-best beam routine.
- In the fifth spot on the apparatus, she notched a 9.925 on beam, breaking the 9.900 mark which she had hit three times previously.
- Davis was part of a beam rotation that earned a 49.350, the team's second-best beam score of 2024 and a mark that pushed Missouri over the 197 threshold.
FIRST TIME OUT
- A pair of Tigers — junior Alonna Kratzer and sophomore Jalene Jachna — made their debut in new events at Texas Woman's.
- Kratzer, a native of Suwanee, Georgia competed in her first bars lineup this past weekend, taking the second spot and scoring a 9.725.
- Jachna, a sophomore from New Lenox, Illinois, made the lineup for the first time on any event in her collegiate tenure, going third on vault and scoring a 9.775 with her front pike with a half twist.
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
- Jocelyn Moore has the highest individual ranking of any Tiger, holding the No. 8 spot on floor with a 9.930 average after an eighth consecutive routine of 9.9 or higher.
- Kennedy Griffin is ranked on floor, checking in at No. 21 on the apparatus with a 9.906 composite following her third straight outing of 9.9 or better.
- Freshman Hannah Horton and junior Amari Celestine both take the No. 21 slot on vault with a 9.875 average.
LAST TIME VS. KENTUCKY
- The last time Missouri and Kentucky squared off was Feb. 3, 2023 at Hearnes Center, with the No. 10 Wildcats prevailing, 197.2750-196.6000.
- Both teams took a pair of events, as the Tigers won on vault and floor while the Wildcats took bars and beam.
- The Tigers shared three event titles, with Jocelyn Moore co-owning the vault title with a 9.950 while Helen Hu splitting the bars and beam titles with a 9.900 and 9.950, respectively.
ALL-TIME VS. THE WILDCATS
- The Wildcats lead the all-time series over the Tigers, 11-2.
