COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 23 Mizzou gymnastics team travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete in the 2021 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional Second Round on Friday, April 2 at 7 p.m. CT. The Tigers will compete in the second session against No. 1 Oklahoma and the winner of the play-in meet between Eastern Michigan or Maryland. No. 15 Auburn, originally selected to the second session, will not compete due to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing within the program. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
- No. 7 Alabama, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 19 Iowa and No. 20 Iowa State will compete in the afternoon session.
- The top two teams from each session will advance to Saturday's regional final, set for 7 p.m. CT. The top two finishers in the regional final will advance to the national championships.
- The 2021 NCAA Regional marks Mizzou's sixth-consecutive and 30th overall regional appearance.
- Last time out, Mizzou placed sixth at the 2021 Southeastern Conference Championship with a score of 196.125. The score marked the Tigers' highest-ever score at an SEC Championship.
- Sophomore Sienna Schreiber claimed WCGA All-America second team honors, as she concluded the regular season ranked tied for 13th nationally on beam with a National Qualifying Score of 9.938.
- Schreiber and freshman Amaya Marshall also claimed All-SEC accolades, as Schreiber earned a spot on the All-SEC team and Marshall was named to the SEC All-Freshman team.
- As a team, Mizzou currently ranks 10th nationally on beam.
- The Tigers are averaging 49.345 on beam over the last five meets after averaging 48.388 the first four meets of the year. In fact, Mizzou has recorded three of the top six beam scores in program history over the last four meets.
- Against LSU on March 5, Mizzou closed the meet with a 49.425 on beam, which tied the second-best beam total in program history.
- Overall, Mizzou's scoring average over the last four meets is 196.375, after an average of 195.038 over the first four meets of the year.
MIZZOU HEADS TO NCAA TUSCALOOSA REGIONAL
The Mizzou gymnastics team was selected to the 2021 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional, held April 1-3 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The bid marks the Tigers' sixth-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and the 30th overall berth in program history.
In the regional format, Mizzou will compete in the second session of the second round, slated for Friday, April 2 at 7 p.m. CT, against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 15 Auburn and the winner of the play-in meet with Eastern Michigan and Maryland. The top two finishers advance to Saturday's regional final against the top top finishers from the first session.
This marks the fifth time Mizzou will compete at an NCAA Regional in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers also competed in Tuscaloosa in 2018, 2009, 1994 and 1985.
SECOND ROUND ROTATIONS
As the third seed in the second session of the second round, Missouri will start the meet on floor. From there, the Tigers go to vault in the second rotation, move to bars, and conclude the meet on beam.

- The Mizzou gymnastics team recorded its highest-ever Southeastern Conference Championships score and finish with a 196.125 to place sixth at the 2021 Championships on March 20 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Ala. The sixth-place finish surpassed the three previous highs of seventh and the 196.125 bettered the 196.100 recorded at the 2018 SEC Championships.
- Sophomore Sienna Schreiber tied for fifth on beam with a 9.925, which was the highest score of the afternoon session. She also totaled 39.375 in the all-around.
- Mizzou opened the night with a 49.000 on floor, with three Tigers of scores of 9.8 or higher. Senior Gabrielle Gottula and junior Hannah McCrary each tallied 9.825s, while junior Alisa Sheremeta went 9.8. Schreiber and freshman Amaya Marshall added 9.775s as well.
- Schreiber paced the Tigers with a 9.85 on vault in the second rotation as the squad earned a 48.875. Marshall, McCrary and freshman Sydney Schaffer garnered scores of 9.775 and sophomore Hollyn Patrick went 9.7.
- In the third rotation, Missouri totaled a 48.975 on bars. Marshall and Schreiber both tallied team-best 9.825s and sophomore Adalayna Hufendiek closed the rotation with a career-best 9.8. Additionally, Patrick scored a 9.775 and Sheremeta a 9.75.
- Mizzou closed the session with a strong performance on beam, earning a 49.275 on the apparatus as five Tigers went 9.8 or higher. Schreiber once again led the way with a 9.925, her fourth-consecutive score of 9.9 or higher and her fifth overall on the season. McCrary, Schaffer and Sheremeta all claimed scores of 9.85, and Marshall added a 9.8.
MISSOURI RANKED 23RD IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
- Mizzou concluded the regular season at 23rd in this week's national rankings, with an National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 196.444.
- The Tigers also rank 10th on beam, 28th on bars, 31st on vault and 34th on floor
- Additionally, sophomore Sienna Schreiber ranks tied for 13th nationally on beam with an NQS of 9.938.
SCHREIBER CLAIMS REGULAR SEASON ALL-AMERICA HONORS
- Sophomore Sienna Schreiber was named a Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regular Season All-American, the organization announced on March 25. Schreiber claimed second team honors on beam.
- Schreiber is the eighth Tiger in program history to claim All-America honors and the third to earn regular season accolades since the WCGA (previously known as the NACGC/W) introduced the award in 2013. She joins Britney Ward (2016, 2017) and Helen Hu (2020) as WCGA Regular Season All-Americans.
- Regular season All-Americans are determined by National Qualifying Score (NQS) rankings. The top eight gymnasts (including ties) on each event and in the all-around earned first team honors, while the next eight were named to the second team.
- Schreiber currently ranks tied for 13th on beam with an NQS of 9.938. Overall, she totaled eight scores of 9.85 or higher and five scores of 9.9 or better on beam in nine meets this year, including a career-best 9.975 at LSU in the regular season finale.
- The sophomore's beam growth from 2020 is significant. As a freshman in 2020, Schreiber's high on the event was 9.85, with only five scores of 9.8 or better in 10 meets. This season, Schreiber stepped into the anchor spot in the lineup in place of the injured Hu and helped the Tigers become one of the nation's top beam teams.
- Over the course of the 2021 season, Schreiber has won a team-best eight event titles, with four on beam, three on bars and one in the all-around. In addition to her beam NQS, Schreiber also carries NQSs of 9.875 on bars, 9.825 on vault and floor and 39.388 in the all-around, thanks to season-best scores of 9.9 on bars, 9.875 on floor, 9.85 on vault and 39.500 in the all-around.
SCHREIBER, MARSHALL EARN ALL-SEC HONORS
- Sophomore Sienna Schreiber and freshman Amaya Marshall both claimed All-Southeastern Conference honors. Schreiber earned a spot on the All-SEC team, while Marshall was named to the All-Freshman team.
- Schreiber nabbed a spot on the All-SEC team after notching a 9.925 on beam at last week's SEC Championship, which was the top score on the event in the afternoon session of the Championship.
- Marshall claimed All-Freshman team honors on bars and in the all-around based upon her performance at SECs, with scores of 9.825 on bars and 39.075 in the all-around.
- During her freshman campaign, she earned spots in the vault, bars and floor lineups in all nine meets and was in the beam lineup seven times, including the last six competitions.
- She won two event titles on the season, the all-around crown against Auburn and the bars title at Arkansas, and was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on Feb. 16. Marshall owns NQSs of 9.856 on floor, 9.844 on bars, 9.838 on beam, 9.806 on vault and 39.231 in the all-around, with career-high tallies of 9.9 on beam, 9.875 on floor and bars, 9.825 on vault and 39.3 in the all-around.
TIGERS POST SECOND-HIGHEST BEAM SCORE IN PROGRAM HISTORY
- Mizzou closed the March 5 meet at LSU with a 49.425 on beam, which is the second-highest score ever on the event in program history.
- Sophomore Sienna Schreiber led the way with a 9.975 in the anchor position to become only the fourth Mizzou gymnast to ever record the score.
- Freshmen Amaya Marshall and Sydney Schaffer each recorded 9.9s at LSU as well, which were both career-highs.
BEAM A STRENGTH FOR MIZZOU
- After a slow start to the season on beam, Mizzou has responded with five-straight scores over 49.225 on the event, including three scores over 49.375.
- The Tigers now rank 10th nationally on the event with an NQS or 49.363.
- The Tigers are averaging 49.345 on beam over the last four meets after averaging 48.388 the first four meets of the year
- In fact, Mizzou has recorded three of the top six beam scores in program history over the last four meets.
