Women's Basketball Moves to 8-0 with Big Second Quarter

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women's basketball (8-0) ran by SIUE (3-3) in a collaborative team win, 79-46, on Thursday night in Mizzou Arena. The 33-point margin was the largest of the season for the Tigers. Aijha Blackwell recorded her fifth double-double of the season and with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

After a tight first quarter, Mizzou put up big numbers in the second. The Tigers were 12-of-18 from the floor for the period, pushing their lead to 17 before the half.

TURNING POINT

Mizzou shut the Cougars down in the second half, holding them to only 15 points with just five in the fourth quarter.

NOTES

Aijha Blackwell earned her fifth double-double of the season, with 16 points and 15 rebounds on the night. She continued her double-digit point streak totaling four in a row.

Lauren Hansen matched Blackwell for the team in points with 16.

Sara-Rose Smith dropped ten points on the night, matching her career high. She was perfect from the field, going 4-for-4.  

Mama Dembele finished with nine points and a career-high eight assists.

Skylah Travis made her career debut and added four points while grabbing four rebounds.

Mizzou faces No. 5 Baylor in Waco, TX on Saturday, December 4th, with a tipoff set for 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will stream live on ESPNU.
