
Missouri Picked To Win Big 12 In Intermat Preseason Rankings

Nine Tigers also received preseason All-Big 12 nods
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Returning after a nine-year hiatus from its original conference, Mizzou Wrestling is the favorite to win the Big 12 this season according to the Intermat preseason picks released Thursday. The Tigers enter their first year back in the Big 12 ranked No. 2 (duals) and No. 6 (tournament) in the site's poll.
Intermat's preseason predictions also included first team, second team and honorable mention All-Big 12 selections.
Nine of the Tigers' 10 returning NCAA qualifiers received preseason all-conference honors, led by junior Brock Mauller, who was selected as first-team at 149 pounds. He was joined by second-team selections Matt Schmitt (133 pounds), Allan Hart (141 pounds), Keegan O'Toole (165 pounds) and Rocky Elam (197 pounds).
Four more Mizzou grapplers also garnered honorable mentions: Jarrett Jacques (157 pounds), Peyton Mocco (174 pounds), Jeremiah Kent (184 pounds) and Zach Elam (Heavyweight).
Head coach Brian Smith's team will begin its 2021-22 season on Thursday, Nov. 11, with a conference matchup against North Dakota State in Fargo, N.D.
