
Mizzou Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 13/12 Mississippi State

Troup paces the Tigers with a season-high 14 points
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Basketball (4-12, 1-2 SEC) dropped a 79-64 result to No. 13/12 Mississippi State (15-2, 3-0 SEC) on Thursday night at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers fought hard in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs, 42-35, in the game's final 20 minutes, but Mississippi State's first half lead proved to be too much.
Mizzou had three player score in double figures, led by redshirt sophomore guard Haley Troup (Gadsden, Ala.), who scored a season-high 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three. Joining Troup in double figures was freshman forward Hayley Frank (Strafford, Mo.) and senior guard Jordan Roundtree (St. Louis, Mo.), who scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.
TURNING POINT
Mississippi State jumped out to a 13-2 lead right out of the gates in the first quarter and never looked back. The Bulldogs' lead was never less than seven after that point, and ballooned to as much as 29 points in the third quarter.
TOP TIGERS
- Troup led Mizzou in scoring for the first time in her career, as she netted a season-high 14 points and matched a career-high with four three-pointers.
- Frank scored in double figures for the 11th time this season with 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field.
- Freshman guard Aijha Blackwell (Berkeley, Mo.) scored nine points and led Mizzou in rebounds (six) and assists (five).
NOTES
- Mizzou shot 46.0 percent from the field (23-of-50), marking the 10th time this season Mizzou has shot 40 percent or better from the field.
- With two blocks, redshirt senior forward Hannah Schuchts (Tallahassee, Fla.) has now recorded a block or more in eight straight contests. She ranks fourth in the SEC with an average of 2.1 blocks per game.
- Schuchts also grabbed six boards, the eighth time this season she has recorded five or more rebounds.
- Troup tallied a season-high 14 points, her second game this season in double figures.
- Troup also matched a career-high as she drained four shots from beyond the arc.
- Frank scored 13 points in the game, the 11th time this season she has reached double figures.
- Roundtree put up double figures for the fourth time this season tallying 10 points, her most since Northern Iowa (Nov 13).
- Blackwell dished out a team-high five assists, the second straight game and third time this season she has recorded five or more assists.
- Junior guard Nadia Green (Chicago, Ill.) tied a career high for steals, snagging the ball three times.
