STORYLINES
- Mizzou Softball heads to Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend, where it will open conference play against the undefeated Crimson Tide.
- The Tigers will play on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT, Saturday at 2 p.m. CT and close out with a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
- Mizzou is 9-12 all-time against Alabama. The last time the Tigers were in Tuscaloosa for a series, they went 1-2 against then-No. 6 Alabama (March 26 – March 28, 2016).
- The Tigers split this past weekend at the Cardinal Classic, dropping games to Louisville and IUPUI, while run-ruling IUPUI and Indiana State.
ROLLIN IS ROLLIN'
- Freshman SS Jazmyn Rollin has come alive following her insertion into the starting lineup.
- She was fabulous in Louisville, going 7-12 at the plate with eight runs scored and four RBI.
- Rollin also hit the first two home runs of her career over the weekend.
- Rollin's three runs scored against IUPUI in game two were the most in a game since sophomore SS/2B Brooke Wilmes scored three against SEMO (3/21/18) last season.
- What was once good production in a limited sample size has turned into just good production. Rollin currently leads the team in batting average (.625) by more than 150 points, while also leading the team in slugging percentage (.958).
- Of Mizzou's top-five hit leaders, four of them have at least 50 at bats. Rollin currently only has 24 at bats.
- The freshman has also been stellar on the base paths, stealing five bases, T-2nd on the team, on five attempts.
- Rollin is just one of two base runners still perfect on the base paths with more than five total stolen bases.
SOME HIGH-LEVEL HITTING
- The Tigers offense was dynamic all weekend, but registered a season-best 15 hits against Indiana State.
- It was the most hits in a single game for the Tigers since they registered 16 against CSUN (2/9/18) last season.
- The Tigers also tallied a club-record six doubles against IUPUI (3/2/19).
SCOUTING BAMA
- Alabama is currently 21-0, the only undefeated team left in the SEC.
- The Tide are also 10-0 at home, with two signature wins against then-No. 24 Minnesota.
- Alabama also beat then-No. 9 Arizona in Tucson, 6-1.
- Sophomore UTIL Bailey Kemphill has been a menace at the plate for the Tide, going 20-59 with eight home runs and a whopping 28 RBI. She is one of just four players in the SEC with at least eight home runs.
- Freshman pitcher Montana Fouts has been simply phenomenal for the Tide in her first season, leading the team with her 0.51 ERA over a team-high 55 innings pitched. She has already notched 74 strikeouts.
- Junior pitcher Sarah Cornell has been nearly as good, sporting a 1.24 ERA over 34 innings pitched.
SOPHOMORE SLUMP? NOPE
- The Tiger sophomore class has been the heart and soul of the team this season.
- Sophomore SS/2B Brooke Wilmes played her best game of the season against No. 5 Washington, as she registered four hits in her four at bats.
- It is the only four-hit game by a Tiger this season, and the first by a Tiger since Cayla Kessinger had four last season against Western Illinois (4/25/18).
- Wilmes followed up her performance against Washington with another stellar performance against New Mexico State, driving in four RBI. It is one of three such performances this season.
- Wilmes is T-1st on the team in hits (19). She is also the only player on the team with at least one double, one triple and one home run so far this season.
- Sophomore 3B Kimberly Wert continued her excellent power hitting, bombing her team-leading sixth home run against IUPUI to give the Tigers the lead back in the top of the seventh inning.
- Wert also currently leads the team in RBI (16),total bases (39) and is tied for the team lead in hits (19).
- Sophomore C Hatti Moore continues to be one of Mizzou's most well-rounded players this season.
- She had another solid weekend at the Cardinal Classic, going 5-14 at the plate with five RBI and two runs scored.
- Moore already has 14 hits this season, only two off of her total from 2018. Moore also already has 12 RBI this season, two more than she had all of 2018.
- Sophomore CF Callie Martin has been excellent to start her second season in Columbia, starting 15 games.
- Martin currently leads the team in walks (7), and is one of five Tigers to have double-digit hits (12) and RBI (10).
- Martin also has three multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games.
- Sophomore P Cassie Gasper has settled in as the No. 2 pitcher in Anderson's bullpen this season. Gasper currently has a 2.24 ERA over 25.0 innings pitched.
- In her first career start at Mizzou, she shut out then-No. 12 Arizona State. She pitched another CG shutout against Villanova. Gasper also has the only save on the staff, striking out the final batter in the first Kansas game.
