Thursday’s dual will feature four ranked vs. ranked bouts
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 5 Mizzou Wrestling will face one of its largest tests of the season as 14th-ranked Northern Iowa comes to the Hearnes Center for a 7 p.m. dual Thursday (Jan. 17). Mizzou is a perfect 11-0 this season has won 31 consecutive duals dating back to the 2016-17 season and Northern Iowa was actually the last team to defeat the Tigers, a 25-10 decision at the Hearnes Center on Feb. 12, 2017. Northern Iowa comes into Thursday's dual at 2-3 overall in dual competition this season, but has four wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes.
Thursday's dual will feature four bouts that will pit ranked wrestler vs. ranked wrestler, including a pair of top-10 bouts. Third-ranked 141-pounder Jaydin Eierman will face ninth-ranked Josh Alber and fourth-ranked 174-pounder Daniel Lewis will face eighth-ranked Taylor Lujan of UNI, highlighting what should be an exciting dual. - 133 Pounds – #10 John Erneste (11-3) vs. Jack Skudlarczyk
- 141 Pounds – #3 Jaydin Eierman (15-1) vs. #9 Josh Alber
- 149 Pounds – #11 Brock Mauller (20-1) vs. #8 Max Thomsen
- 157 Pounds – #16 Jarrett Jacques (18-5) vs. Paden Moore or Patrick Schoenfelder
- 165 Pounds – #13 Connor Flynn (13-3) vs. #11 Bryce Steiert
- 174 Pounds – #4 Daniel Lewis (16-1) vs. #8 Taylor Lujan
- 184 Pounds – TBA vs. #9 Drew Foster
- 197 Pounds – #16 Wyatt Koelling (13-7) vs. Tyrell Gordon
- 285 Pounds – #16 Zach Elam (16-5) vs. Carter Isley or Izaak Shedenhelm
Last time out, Mizzou traveled to Athens, Ohio, to face MAC foe Ohio, and the Tigers earned a 30-12 win. Mizzou fell behind 12-0, but rallied for the 30-12 win to extend its winning streak to 31, including 12 straight MAC dual wins. UNI is coming off a 22-12 loss at Nebraska last weekend.
