COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field continues its 2019 indoor campaign this Friday and Saturday, as the Tigers hit the road for the first time at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. Mizzou will have 39 athletes in competition over the two-day meet, including four school record holders.
Field events will begin at 2 p.m. CT Friday with the women's weight throw, men's pole vault and women's high jump, while track events will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT with the women's 3000m run. On Saturday, the women's shot put will kick things off at 11 a.m. CT, while track events are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. CT with the 60m hurdles. Mizzou will have four school record holders in competition in field events, as redshirt sophomore Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) is slated to compete in the long jump, freshman Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) in the high jump, freshman Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) in the triple jump and senior Valeria Kostiuk (Kiev, Ukraine) in the high jump. Vilches currently holds the top high jump mark in the nation at 2.26m (7-5), which he set at the Missouri Intercollegiate (Jan. 11), while Ward currently holds the fourth-best long jump mark in the nation this season at 7.81m (25-7.5). Fisher set the women's triple jump school record at the Missouri Holiday Opener (Dec. 8), and currently sits at 10th in the nation with a jump of 12.68m (41-7.25). Kostiuk cleared 1.78m (5-10) at the Missouri Holiday Opener (Dec. 8), a mark which currently ranks 11th in the nation.
In track events, Mizzou will be highlighted by redshirt freshman Jayson Ashford (Fairview Heights, Ill.) and senior Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.), who both hold program top-10 marks in events they are slated to run in. Ashford will run in the 60m dash and 200m dash, where he holds the ninth-best time in program history at 21.60. His converted 200m dash time of 21.22 currently ranks 13th in the nation. Cody will run in the 60m dash and 200m dash as well, where she holds the second-best and third-best marks in program history at 7.36 and 24.07, respectively.
