COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 17 Missouri gymnastics team hits the road this weekend as the Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to face No. 7 Alabama on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be broadcast live on SEC Network + and aired on ESPNU on tape delay on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 9 p.m. CT. Courtney Lyle and Bridget Sloan will call the action.
TIGER TIDBITS
- Mizzou moved up to 17th in this week's national rankings, a seven-spot jump from a week ago
- The Tigers posted a 196.325-196.150 win over No. 10 Arkansas in Missouri's home opener on Jan. 19
- The win was Mizzou's first over a top 10 team since a 195.800-195.350 win over No. 9 Georgia on Jan. 22, 2016, and the third-consecutive victory over Arkansas
- Against the Razorbacks, Mizzou tallied season highs on all four events (49.225 on floor, 49.075 on bars, 49.025 on vault and 49.000 on beam) for the 196.325

- Mizzou's 2018 slate is ranked the fifth-toughest in the country entering the season, behind only SEC foes Georgia, Arkansas and Alabama
- Head Coach Shannon Welker enters his fifth season at the helm of the Tiger program. In his first four years in Columbia, Welker has Mizzou back in the national spotlight. In 2017, the Tigers finished 17th in the national ranking. The 2017 season also saw Mizzou go 3-4 in Southeastern Conference dual meet action, with wins over No. 12 Arkansas, No. 12 Kentucky and No. 18 Auburn. The Tigers entered the season with just one SEC dual win in program history. Additionally, Missouri recorded the third and fourth-highest scores in program history in 2017, with a 197.200 against Auburn and a 197.150 one week later against Kentucky.

MISSOURI RANKED 17TH IN LATEST NATIONAL POLL
- Mizzou moved up to 17th in this week's national rankings, a seven-spot jump from a week ago
- Rankings are determined by average score for the first six weeks of the season (before moving to Regional Qualifying Score in late February)
- Additionally, the team is ranked 12th on bars (49.013), 13th on vault (48.988) and 17th on floor (49.013)
- Missouri was 17th in the preseason coaches poll, announced on Dec. 11
- That was the highest preseason ranking for the Tigers since prior to the 2011 season, when they were chosen 13th
TIGERS POST TOP 10 WIN
- Mizzou's 196.325-196.150 win over No. 10 Arkansas on Jan. 19 marked the team's first top 10 win since the program knocked off No. 9 Georgia, 195.800-195.350, on Jan. 22, 2016
- Additionally, it was only the Tigers' second top 10 victory since the 2012 season
- In 2012, Mizzou defeated No. 9 Arkansas, 196.100-195.450 in Columbia, on March 16 and No. 4 Nebraska, 195.725-194.550, on Jan. 28 in Lincoln, Neb.
HARRIS, PORTER CLAIM EVENT TITLES AGAINST RAZORBACKS
- Harris and Porter both won event titles against No. 10 Arkansas on Jan. 19
- Harris claimed top honors on floor with a 9.925, a score that clinched Mizzou's victory. It was her first event title of the season and the 13th of her Tiger career
- Porter also earned an event win, as she scored a meet-high 9.900 on bars. It also marked her first victory of the season and was the 19th of her Mizzou career
MIZZOU OWNS NATION'S FIFTH-TOUGHEST SCHEDULE
- Heading into the season, the Tigers' schedule is rated the fifth-toughest in the nation
- The strength of schedule was calculated by reverse assigning points to each team based on their final 2017 final ranking (example: No. 1 Oklahoma is worth 82 points, No. 2 LSU 81 points, etc.). Additionally, only the highest-ranked team at each meet is used to assign points for that particular meet
- The 2018 regular season features 12 matchups with 10 teams ranked in the preason top 25, including meets against No. 2 Florida, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Alabama, No. 10 Kentucky, No. 14 Auburn, No. 16 Georgia, No. 19 Arkansas, No. 20 Iowa, No. 21 Georgia Washington and No. 23 Illinois.
