COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou gymnastics team has released its 2018 schedule, Head Coach Shannon Welker announced on Monday. The slate includes four home meets, 10 matchups with teams that finished in the top 25 in 2017 and seven possible meets in the state of Missouri.
The Tigers will look to take the next step in Welker's fifth season at the helm. Welker and the Tigers ended the 2017 season 17th in the final team rankings, the program's highest finish since 2010. The 2017 season also featured the program's third-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, highest-ever in-season ranking (sixth) and the highest team score in 13 years.
Mizzou's home schedule features matchups with Southeastern Conference foes Arkansas, Florida and LSU and non-conference opponents Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri.
After the Black & Gold exhibition on Saturday, Dec. 9, Mizzou officially opens the 2018 schedule on the road at Auburn on Friday, Jan. 12.
The Tigers open the home portion of their schedule on Friday, Jan. 19 as the team hosts Arkansas in the annual Pink Out meet.
Consecutive road SEC meets at Alabama (Jan. 26) and Georgia (Feb. 3) precede a home contest with 2017 national runner-up LSU on Feb. 9.
Mizzou returns to compete in the Mardi Gras Invitational in St. Charles, Missouri, for the second season in a row on Feb. 16. The Tigers will face Arkansas and LSU in the evening session. Missouri remains on the road the following week as the squad faces Kentucky (Feb. 23) and Illinois (Feb. 25) in a two-meet weekend.
On March 2 the Tigers host Florida at the Hearnes Center before traveling to take on Iowa State on March 9.
The Tigers celebrate Senior Night on Friday, March 16 as the team hosts Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri in the State of Missouri Meet.
Fans get another opportunity to watch the Tigers in their home state on March 24, as the 2018 SEC Championships will take place at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. Chaifetz Arena will also host the 2018 NCAA Championships, scheduled for April 20-21.
