Mizzou earned the 27th NCAA Regional bid in program history
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 15 Mizzou gymnastics team will travel to Gainesville, Florida, to compete in the 2017 NCAA Gainesville Regional on Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. CT, the NCAA announced on Monday afternoon. The bid marks the Tigers' third-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and the 27th overall bid in program history.
The No. 3 seed, Mizzou will compete against No. 1 seed Florida, No. 2 seed Georgia, No. 4 seed New Hampshire, No. 5 seed Penn State and No. 6 seed North Carolina. As the three-seed, Mizzou will begin the meet on a bye, then advance to floor and vault in the second and third rotations, respectively. The Tigers then have a bye before heading to bars in the fifth rotation and conclude the meet on beam.
Missouri concluded the regular season ranked No. 15, the highest ranking for the team heading into regionals since 2010. The Tigers notched the third, fourth and seventh highest scores in program history during the year, breaking the 197 barrier for the first and second times since 2004. Additionally, Mizzou claimed three Southeastern Conference wins in 2017, tripling the program's previous SEC win total.
Tickets for the Gainesville Regional will go on sale on Tuesday, March 21 at 7:30 a.m. ET. Reserved tickets are $10, while general admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth (12 and under) and seniors). Visit the Florida UAA Ticket Office site or call 352-375-4683, ext. 6800 to purchase.
