COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Basketball (16-7, 6-3) takes its five-game winning streak on the road as the Tigers travel to No. 5 Mississippi State on Sunday. Tip off on ESPNU is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT.
OF NOTE
- Mizzou puts its SEC-best five-game winning streak on the line when it travels to Starkville as the Tigers search for their second win in their last three outings against the Bulldogs.
- A win Sunday would mark Mizzou's first victory over Mississippi State in Starkville.
- Mizzou has been dominant in first quarters this season, outscoring opponents 404-302 in the frame, including 150-98 in SEC play.
- Mizzou currently has four wins over Top-30 RPI opponents, including Creighton, Texas A&M, Kentucky and Auburn. Mizzou is one of five programs in the SEC with at least four victories over Top-30 RPI teams thus far alongside Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Mississippi State.
- Freshman Amber Smith is the reigning SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 14.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 70.6 percent in two wins. She is the third Tiger to receive an SEC weekly honor this season, joining Sophie Cunningham and Sierra Michaelis.
- In her last three outings, freshman Amber Smith has 37 combined points and 13 rebounds. During Mizzou's win streak, she has made 20-of-31 field goals and shot 7-of-10 from 3-point range.
- Despite having just one true forward playing 15 minutes or more per game, Mizzou has outrebounded opponents 17 times in 23 games this season, going 14-3 in those contests.
THE STREAK
- With five victories in a row, Mizzou has the longest win streak among SEC teams.
- The five-game win streak is Mizzou's longest in conference play since 1990 and the second streak of four wins or more in SEC play since joining the league.
- Three of the five victories have come over Top-30 RPI opponents: No. 20 Texas A&M, No. 21 Auburn and No. 15 Kentucky.
- The Tigers' victory over Texas A&M was its first win at home over the Aggies since 2005.
- Mizzou's road triumph over Arkansas marked its first win over the Razorbacks in Fayetteville since Dec. 21, 2008.
- Mizzou beat Kentucky for the first time as members of the SEC. With the win over the Wildcats, Mizzou has now beaten every SEC team at least once since joining the league.
450 ASSISTS
- Through 23 games, redshirt senior point guard Lianna Doty is averaging 3.4 assists per game, which ranks 12th in the SEC. She has dished at least four assists in a game 10 times this season.
- With 452 career assists, Doty tops active SEC players in career dimes. She has 50 more assists than any other active SEC player. She ranks 38th among active Division I players in career assists. Doty needs just 19 more assists to move into second all-time in program history.
- In a game against Missouri State, Doty lofted a beautiful full-court pass to a streaking Sophie Cunningham, who finished a layup in transition. That pass gave Doty her 400th career assist. Doty is just the third Tiger to ever reach that mark and the first player to do so since Kerensa Barr in 2003.
- Doty also ranks fourth in career steals among active SEC players with 181 swipes, which puts her at 10th all-time in program history. She's on pace to become the third Tiger ever to finish with at least 500 points, 400 assists and 200 steals.
LAST TIME OUT
- Mizzou continued its hot streak, topping No. 25 Kentucky, 73-67. The victory was the fifth straight for the Tigers, their longest streak in conference play since joining the SEC. Mizzou has now won four consecutive games over ranked opponents at home, dating back to last season.
- A host of Tigers led the way for Mizzou, as four players scored in double digits. Freshman guard Amber Smith filled up the stat sheet with 15 points (6-10 FG, 2-3 3FG) and a career-high eight rebounds.
