Mizzou Women's Basketball opens its home slate against Wright State on Thursday. Tip off at Mizzou Arena is slated for 7 p.m. CT. Tickets are available here.
Mizzou Looks to Continue Home Dominance
- Mizzou has won 47 consecutive nonconference regular season home games, with the last loss coming to Northwestern on Dec. 3, 2011. The Tigers have won 32 consecutive nonconference games at Mizzou Arena, falling to Eastern Illinois in the Postseason WNIT on March 20, 2013.
- Mizzou is 35-8 all-time in home openers. The Tigers have won eight consecutive home openers, with seven of those coming in the Robin Pingeton era. Seven of the eight victories have come by double digits.
- Under Pingeton, Mizzou has outscored opponents in home openers 472-307, holding opponents to 52 or fewer points in all seven contests. The last home-opening loss came during the Cindy Stein coaching era to South Dakota State, 55-50.
- Wright State is the third consecutive team Mizzou has faced to begin the 2017-18 campaign that finished with 25 or more victories a season ago.
- Redshirt senior Jordan Frericks scored 24 points vs. Western Kentucky and 23 points vs. Quinnipiac. With 20 or more points against Wright State, Frericks would become the fourth Tiger in program history with at least 20 points in three consecutive games to open a season, joining Julie Helm (1998), Ericka Fields (1999) and Renee Kelly (1987). Kelly is the only player to score 23 or more in three straight games to begin a campaign.
- Sophomore Sophie Cunningham added 25 points against Western Kentucky. Through the first week of games, Frericks and Cunningham have three of the five highest single-game scoring performances in the SEC this season.
- Frericks' 17 rebounds against Western Kentucky are the most in a single game among SEC players thus far. Frericks helped Mizzou outrebound its first two opponents a combined 79-56.
- Out of the gate, Mizzou ranks first in the SEC in rebounds allowed per game, holding opponents to just 28 rebounds per contest.
Mizzou vs. Wright State
- This is the third all-time meeting between Mizzou and Wright State. The Tigers are 2-0 in the series and 1-0 at Mizzou Arena.
- Mizzou won the last meeting between the two schools, 92-62, in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 26, 2011.
